Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ideas for halfway-to-asia

    I'm trying to think of ideas for my holiday in 2 weeks.

    I have 2 weeks off. The second week I have to be in SE Asia.
    The first week I would like to do somewhere halfway. Somewhere interesting, with onward flights to bkk, sin, or hkg.

    I was originally thinking israel (tel-aviv), but onward flights are stupid money.
    Dubai/abu dhabi etc just arent interesting.

    Throw me a few ideas please!

    I know its not halfway there but hell: What about China or South Korea. To get into North Korea is too much hassle and you do not have the time anyway so for me China would be first choice and then South Korea.

    I've been to Seoul, North Korea (DMZ on the train from Seoul only) and Beijing already.

    Middle East I've only seen Qatar properly and then the airports of surrounding countries in transit to Asia. I should point out I lived in Asia for a few years.

    The 1 week preceeding my SE Asia week I will be with a mate who only has 1 week off so he wont want to go as far as say India.

    Hmm ... Jordan is a interesting spot .. Egypt also, but suspect onwards would hit the same issue.

    The cheapest hoppers tend to be places you've ruled out - Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Qatar but TBH I wouldn't recommend them meself.

    If ya want really interesting you could try Iran ... !

    My own advice would be just to go the SE Asia the time spent in transit / airports will eat an extra day/two otherwise.

    I have been looking at the options.
    Tehran did feature, but I dont think I could make a week of it.

    Tel Aviv and Beirut are looking strong for the weekends for the nightlife. I can fly into Tel Aviv(sightseeing and party!), then drive to Jerusalem for sightseeing, then somehow get to Beirut(party!).

    I can also get to Qatar from Beirut, which will bring me directly to SE Asia at a good price!

    Cant for the life of me figure out how to get from Tel Aviv to Beirut though. No roads, railways or flights.
