Are there any good, safe hostels in Waterford that do deals for like €70-80 a week? Does anyone know?

    Nope.

Only homeless hostels. B&B's are the cheapest accomodation, but nowhere near as cheap as hostels.

Are they the only type of Hostels in Waterford?

Aye, think there was one back in the day, but no more.

Nope, nobody else, because there isn't any!

There's one in Tramore I think. Sully will tell ya.

This might be a good place for you as well, weekly looks to be around €82

Yeah, I'm just looking for somewhere to stay for a week though. Not a permanent thing

Is that the old Portree Guest house? OP this is right next to the brewery in Waterford. It is not the most pleasent of stays.
Some of the hostels in Tramore don't seem too bad though and it is only a quick spin into the city.
There is also a place behind the Tower hotel. They rent self catering apartments on a daily or week by week basis. They are huge, but may be a bit over budget.
The Anchorage on the quay also do Budget Accomodation.
Also, not sure if still the case, but some of the pubs on the quay had accomodation over them at competative prices.

That's the only hostel in Tramore, located on the main road as you come into the town. It was on an RTE program "At your service" last year where they inspected areas the business needed to improve, areas that needed to be cleaned etc. They went to a good few B&Bs around Ireland including the above. No other business in Tramore. Some people thought the TV program did more harm to the accommodation industry as it was showing how poor/bad/dirty some were. Ryan Tubridy made a remark once on his show that caused a few complaints to be sent his way via the Tourism Groups.

I would suggest trying some of the Hotels and B&Bs as they may work out pretty decent if your not to keen on the hostel experience. The Grand Hotel in Tramore has some excellent offers if you call them with live music most nights in the bar. That's assuming your going to a hostel for the price, some of the B&Bs/Hotels might do you an offer that's perfect. If you try hard enough, the hotels will drop prices considerably! B&Bs, they do offer great reductions but its a little harder as its a smaller business.

A recommendation though - always look for reviews and go with the majority of what people say (TripAdvisor is good). See the pictures etc. to see if they look good. Best next step after looking at websites :)

If Tramore is to far out, the links earlier in this thread look helpful. Not sure what issues surround the one by the Brewery myself.
