Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've been predicting Shakhtar winning this for a few years now so they'll have to go and do it now that I haven't put a penny on them.

Wouldn't be if City had made the Final, and definitely won't be when it comes to Dublin as the Europa League Final;)

Fancy Shakhtar in this especially since Bremen have Diego suspended. Shakhtar are a good side and have beaten decent teams on the way to the final eg Marseille, Kiev, Wolfsburg and to a lesser extent Spurs.

It is ridiculous what they are doing with this comp. next year though - the Europa Cup in which you have to win nearly 20 matches to win it.

Its not changed that much has it?
As I see it the Evertons and AstonVillas of the world don't have to do that much more than last year - one play-off match to get into the groups, then a Group with 6 games (compared to 4 this year) followed by a 32 team knockout competition. So 17 games in total to win it compared to 15 this year.

The likes of St Pats etc still have to play 3/4 rounds to get into the groups, but thats as it was anyway.

Its reasons like this is why we might end up with a 16/18 team Premiership!

Surely that would be a good thing. What have West Brom and Boro brought to the league this season, and the likes of the dire Derby, Wolves and Sunderland teams over the last few seasons?

Well I dont think it would be a bad thing anyway....was browsing thru the euro leagues and I noticed one of them was a 16 team, Portugal it was I think. Would be interesting if the Prem went this way. Makes me wonder how teams managed when it was 22 teams, and when there was that silly extra group stage in the Champions League!

Back on topic, completely forgot about this match tonight, something to watch now thanks to this thread. Hopin for extra time and penos obviously :)

I have respected Shakhtar since they hockeyed Celtic in the CL, they are one of those teams in that direction who spend big on South Americans, kind of a more western version of those middle eastern moneybags teams like Al Saad who Zarate played for.

This is fantastic! I have half the Shakhtar team on my Football Manager team, cool to see them in the flesh. Is Seleznyov in the squad? He's a savage player in the game

Meh, I said that when they beat Celtic 4-0, they're just talent herders with no real caring for their players, Castillo said it's horrible there and I'd say most of the South Americans would move in a heartbeat and probably will.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,678 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

no 7 for Shakhtar goes by the name Fernandinho

nice little player, great pace on him and few nice passes

theyve got buckets of cash and the best facilities in the world, theyll only keep improving

This is a great game. I fancy Bremen to nick it, they are looking more and more dangerous. Shakhtar's passing could cut them open at any moment though..Its a toughie

Did they just say that they'd be getting the CL back? Better not get any of the knockout rounds. It'd be rubbish not having the RTE panel for that.

Shaktar back in the lead in first half of extra time!

And Bremen respond instantly, keeper made a great save off goal line.

    Shakhtar girl in white. Yum.
