    Hi guys

    Quick one about this

    I have had an account with Board Gais for over a year now, and have recently moved address

    Now they are looking for a 400 euro deposit

    Where as i thought this was for new accounts only ?

    As its the same account but a new address, I dont see why I need to pay a desposit

    Can you please advise ?

    It seems very high handed and unwarranted.

    Was your previous account paid on time? Any utility can insist on a deposit being paid if there was a poor payment history.

    If on the other hand you had a clean record then I would query the matter with Bord Gais. You have already established your credit record with them so there should be no need for a deposit at your new address.
