Building a Pond???

    Hi,

I'm in the middle of doing up the garden and have decided to put in a pond that has been planned a few years now. The house is built on an old quarry so there's alot of land accessed by steps which has been let get fairly overgrown. As you can see from the picture the back edge is natural rock and the front a stone wall. Whats the best way to go around putting a liner on this?
Obviously the rest of the weeds and stuff have to be cleared. From there i'm a bit lost. Was thinking basically just plastering out an even surface all around on which to place the liner. Then replastering over the liner so as to avoid tears. What would be the best liner to use around a fairly irregular shape? Anyone here know anything about building ponds? Or have any advice on the best way of waterproofing this space?

P.S. That pipe you can see is just an unconnected electric cable put in years ago for providing electricity to the water pump for the unbuilt pond.
