Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there any reason not to get 64 bit vista over 32 nowadays, new build so I have no old hardware or software to support.

    Is there any potential pitfalls?

It depends on how much RAM you have. Anything above 4GB would require x64. Not too much of a benefit otherwise.

    Anything over 3.25gigs more like!
There will always be some rare driver issues with Vista 64...

The only thing that ever didn't work for me was my old wireless adapter.
If you have anything which you'll want to be using with your new pc you should check out if there are drivers for it by visiting the manufacturers website.

I wouldn't bother with 32 bit in this day and age. That said I'd be trying the Windows 7 release candidate too instead of Vista - free until next year.

Cheers lads I just wanted to be sure that compatability problems were the exception now rather than the norm now. 64 Bit it is then.

Looking into buying a laptop at the moment and this issue arose for me.

After much debating, I decided to go with 32bit. Reason being that I can't see that much of an improvement or reason to go with 64 over 32 and everywhere i've read about it has mentioned compatibility issues with 64bit, and to be honest, I just don't think It's worth the hassle. Especially not if you're only gonna be doing day-to-day tasks (typing, internet, the odd bit of messing around in paint/movie maker/etc.).

I'm not that educated on the matter though, so don't take my word for it :pac:

I've been using Windows 7 64-bit now for a couple of weeks on a new build and I haven't had a single problem.

I've also stuck with 32-bit, the reason being that I have a couple of virtual drive applications which use kernel mode drivers that aren't signed; therefore they won't load on 64-bit Vista or 7 without using F8 on every boot.
