    Hi peeps,

Just read in the Kildare Nationalist:
A NUMBER of roads in Athy will be closed to facilitate the forthcoming Tri-Athy Triathlon on the June Bank Holiday weekend.
In the interest of public safety, Athy Town Council has advised that the following roads will be closed from 6pm on Friday, 29th May to 10am on Sunday 31st May next:
The Roads to the south of Emily Square behind and to the west of the town hall, including the junction with the R417 Carlow Road, and as far as Barrow Quay with is intersection with the N78; Barrow Quay between River Barrow and Emily Square and the back square; the road to the west of emily square including the junction with the N78 Athy/Kilcullen Road, and the road to the south of Emily Square (at the front of the Town Hall) including the junction with the R417 Carlow Road.
Emergency vehicle access wth be accommodated.
The notice from the town hall adds that alternative routes and signage will be put in place, as agreed with the gardaí and Kildare County Council, to facilitate the event.

Ok so the roads mentioned above will be closed from Friday evening 6pm straight through to Sunday morning 10am

Anyone got any further info on this in relation to residents on the Carlow Road?
Last year we were permitted to leave our housing estates during the race and take the Ardreigh Road around to the Castledermot Road
But not allowed back until 6pm (which was fair enough)

I'm assuming the roads will be re-open around 7pm or so on the Saturady night???

    UPDATE:

Had the Labour lads knocking around yesterday canvasing so threw this question at them.

They are now saying the Paper was mis-printed, and they have corrected and confirmed with the council and gardaí.

The Carlow road will be open until approx 9am on the saturday morning and will then Re-open around 7pm or so after the last of the Races...
