Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UV Filter Compatibility

Hi - a very simple question from a newbie. I've a Olympus 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko lens. The filter attachment diameter is 58mm.

Should any generic filter of 58mm in diameter fit on? I've got the Hoya 58mm UV Multi Coated Glass filter in mind. I know it sounds like a no brainer, however, I just thought the threads on one may not match the other.

    Thanks

Unless the lens is very unusual, yes, any generic filter should fit, as long as it's the correct diameter.

As Paul said. Except with some of the ultra-wide angle lenses which may vignette with a "thick" filter and need a slim filter all other lenses will probably be fine with the generic filter.

Thank goodness camera companies don't have proprietary filter threads!
