Fantastic photos gary82, you were about fifteen feet from me I reckon! That copyright is class. I'll have the tripod next time for sure, and bring the better camera! Do people reckon the closing ceremony will be another photo-tastic event?

Absolutely love this one, the b&w background with the Irish colours of Green Dragon is brilliant.

Ach mine's just a little nifty pocket camera I bought a few years back.. Fujifilm finepix F30..a handy little camera on a budget (as I look in anticipation to the future and fortune of being able to afford a dslr)

P&S cameras are perfectly capable of taking stunning images, an SLR won't necessarily give you better images its just gives you greater creative flexibility.
Unfortunately most people just take their P&S out of the box, never read the manual or any photography guide or even try to understand what the camera is doing and just shoot on automatic settings all the time.
I have an old Sony Digicam i bought years ago, its a beast of a thing 4MP (huge at the time) and i have taken images as good as my SLR with it.

Thanks Padi, I've left a thread in Photography asking for help. I would really like to make the most of my camera during the VOR

Thanks for the link. I might well have a go, but I will wait a while to see what else I can get as each photographer can only enter once.
Maybe when you have whittled down your choice of photograph to 2 or 3, you can post them here and we can help you decide if you want.

Also, big shout out to everyone who contributed pictures and videos over the course of the preparations and the shenanigans since they arrived. I've not been able to make it down there yet, so it has made me feel like I was there :P

AFAIK Vulcan, you can submit as many photos as you like, all the pics added to that group on Pix.ie are eligible for the competition and you can definitely upload more than one batch, I know because I did. Stick them up, you have some great shots.

Can't wait to get down again this weekend!

I'm not so sure? This from section 7 of the T&C for the competition:-

Each photograph may only be entered once and all entries are subject to moderation. Where a moderator determines the photo is unsuitable for the competition, it will be removed without prior notice or compensation.

So I would like to enter something I wouldbe happy with. It's all a bit vague though, I must admit. On the steps for uploading it tells you how to upload more than one picture, then you get to the Terms and Conditions and it tells you the above. Wish it was a bit clearer.

    Thanks for your comments
