Many thanks PoleStar. One quick word of advice. The photography mods don't like when you quote someone and include the image so head back into your reply and edit it. It's something that could get you a slap on the wrist.

I duplicated the original layer and hid it. On the bottom layer I desaturated that, added a gradient map and adjusted the brightness/contrast. The second layer I unhid and and brought the opacity down to 40% so I could get a more pleasant colour look. I then duplicated the black and white layer and brought that to the top. I changed the 'effect' (sorry I don't know the term) to Overlay, added a Gaussian blur of 60 and that was it.

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie, both to photography (got my first SLR camera a couple of months back) & to Boards (joined the other day after stumbling across this forum)
I've had a great time looking through your posts, the photo's on here are fantastic & have given me the inspiration i needed to get out & start clicking.
The assignment threads have really caught my interest, but while i sort myself out, i've decided to share some of the photo's from my albums.

How do you get the actual photo to appear on the thread- as opposed to a link - which i used?
and is the only place to look for C&C?

you need to have your photo online already, Either through Flickr or pix.ie etc....
or you can uplaod it here and just paste the URL in.

Also be aware that it has to be at most 800px wide/high

You need to upload your photo from your computer to an image hosting site like Photobucket or Flickr and then link to to this site.

Re C&C most posters who are looking for C&C start their own thread, posting the various images. There is usually some very good advice given in these threads from the many talented and helpful photographers who contribute to this forum.
