Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I would like some peoples opinions on to what my next lens should be. I have the original kit lens, 18-135mm, I then bought a 70-300m and now Im looking for a sub 50mm wide angle and after that perhaps a fish eye lens. But there are a lot of choices out their so what would people recommend ? any personal experiences ?

What do you want to shoot?

    What is your budget?

How fast do you want the lens?

What aspects of the lenses are important to you?

Ideally I want a lens that will make create landscapes but can also take pics in poorly lit environments. My budget would be in and under the 500e mark and i would like a lens thats pretty fast :) as for aspects I cant think of any :(

Well for that budget I don't think you will get something too fast.

The Sigma 10-20 is very popular & good value for the the money. I have one & am quite pleased with it.

The Sigma 24-70 f2.8 can be picked up on eBay for e450. Fine camera from what Ive experienced with it - and Im sure some people 'round here will agree. Nice and fast too. Great all round lens. I've one on order now, I can let you know how I get on with the seller if you want?

I know you said you want a sub 50, but I'd consider the 50mm 1.8. You really can't go wrong. EVERYBODY loves it - such a handy lens - and nice and cheap too!

Both the 50mm and the 24-70 will allow you to take pics in low light conditions. The 50mm is as sharp as a knife, too.

Personally, if I was you, I'd go with the 50mm for low light situations (you can't get better than it) and then spend the rest on filters for your kit lens. Filters can really make a bog-standard lens give great results! They're invaluable for landscapes, as Im coming to learn. You can always put the rest of the money aside for something else further down the line. Or get a flash now too!

    Just my two cents, anyway!

    Not great on it's own.

Might give fairly decent results in connection with some extension tubes or a lens reversal filter.
