Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Two feet off the ground? Why don't you watch it again. The end of this video shows it clearly and he got the ball first by the way.

    he went through the player.
    it was two footed.
    it was off the ground.
there was enough force to break a leg.

that's more than enough to warrant a red. that you would think that just because he made contact with the ball it shouldn't be a red makes me think you've never played a game of football in your life.

no you're right, joey barton deserves a chance

he got his first one just after he stubbed a cigar out on a workmates eye, leaving him scarred for life

he got his second after he was sent home from a pre season tour for attacking a 15 year old fan

he sort of received a third after he mooned some evertone fans (for the comparison, dave rodgers did this and was sacked by dundalk)

the fourth came after he assaulted another workmate, this time sending him to hospital

number 5 arrived when he assaulted a man and was jailed

then, when his team needed him in a relegation fight, he got himself sent off

so potentially six chances he has received, when you or i would have been sacked and found it hard to get sork again, all the while picking up around £70,000 per week

yes, its all the someone elses fault, he doesnt bring it on himself at all

so how many chances should he actually get?
The fact that he is more famous for all the above than anything else, even football tells it own story .El Hadj Diouff is an ignoramus of a similar kind but at least he can play a bit . ( although I was glad Liverpool got shot of him )

Not as talented as El Hadj Diouff no .

Suggesting that at least diouf can play a bit is very much sayign Barton cant.

Different players in deifferent positions but imo barton is better at what he does than Diouf is at what he does .

I will concede that Diouf is more likely to hit someone in the crowd in a spitting contest though.

Well footballers are not signed for their good looks ,manners or personality .It's what they do on the pitch .As this thread is about Barton and injury aside ,what has he done on the pitch ?

Well in that case , apart from a tackle against Alonso being blown way out of proportion, he hasnt done much wrong.

He's a very solid player that will fight and give 100% for the club.

I certainly wouldnt be ravign about Dioufs performances anyway.

Ya see the problem with Barton both on and off the pitch ,it's always somebody else fault . Taclke on Alsono ? Ref /crowd picking on me cos I'm Barton .

He gives a 100% ? Most professional footballers do that anyway .That's what they are paid for eh ?

He is nothing special , average footballer and Diouf is only slightly better .

Did you look at the youtube I put up? Did you have a good look at it. He doesn't make contact with Alonso with his front foot and his second foot is not being lifted as he comes into the player. There is no intent to injure in that tackle from what I've seen.
I seen Steven Gerard go through a player this season and not even get a yellow card for it. I seen Paul Scholes do it many times and he gets yellow cards.
that you would think that just because he made contact with the ball it shouldn't be a red makes me think you've never played a game of football in your life.
Oh you insulting ................, an attempt at elitism and such a fail. I played for too long even though I shouldn't bother answering that.

Apparently barton was crying in the dressing room after the result today. I think this shows he has a heart, and should be given an extension on his contract and Newcastle should rebuild their championship side around him!
    :D

You can't be serious. If you are, people like you are one of the main reasons why Newcastle are a joke of a club in alot of peoples eyes.

There was a banner in the Holt End yesterday apparently reading... "Who's the next Messiah - Ant or Dec?" :D

Saw it myself. Very funny! I wouldn't read into that too much though. He was probably just smiling at the fact that the stadium was going mad and that no one had to tell Phil Brown that Hull had stayed up.

I know United don't like Scousers, but blaming an Everton fan for people's opinion of Newcastle is a bit much.

the front foot is what takes out Alonso's standing foot. try pausing it to see. The back foot i'll conceed i'm not sure about as it's blurry but when i saw it before i thought he brings it around and into the player.

failure of the referee to implement the rules of the game does not make it correct.

it's not an insult. it's a statement built on my experiences. in any games i've played in, if you made a tackle like that you could consider yourself very, very lucky to stay on the field.

A huge amount very much do not give 100%. Look at most a good chunk of his Newcastle teams mates sauntering around the pitch yesterday for example being hassled and chased down by a villa team whose season was over. The lack of effort over the last few weeks was appaling. Then theres players like Berbatov who clearly could do more.Theres examples at most clubs.

    yuk yuk yuk.

    sorr, couldnt resist :)
Even if he was going around lamping everyone on the pitch it'd be an improvement on the indifference some of his teammates show.

It was blown out of proportion because it was Barton. Thats fairly obvious. Yellow card for most other players.

If someone were to keep him on the straight and narrow, he'd be of massive benefit to a team, particularly a championship one like Newcastle (I imagine his wages can't be that high at this stage to boot).

However, that's a big 'if' where Barton is concerned. The guys clearly got serious anger management issues. No-one gives a **** about the odd red card, particularly for a tackling midfielder - what matters is that Barton can function in a team without attacking his team mates or going missing to serve jail sentences.

Does he deserve another chance? Jesus would people get off their high horses - DESERVE?? This is premiership football, if he can add to a team, he'll get his chance - deserve doesn't come into it.

Hopefully he'll mellow out with age, keep the aggression for on the pitch but lose it when he's elsewhere. if he manages that he could be a huge bonus to Newcastle or some other team.

Lucky guy though, he's clearly from a pretty messed up family and god knows where he'd be if it wasn't for his football ability.

Edited to include: That Alonso tackle could just have easily been yellow.

Barton will be good in the championship, he will kick Newcastle back up, just like Vinnie Jones did with Leeds, then he will be sold in the summer of next year to another championship team looking for a midfield hardman;)

It's not one way traffic .Scousers are not fond of Mancs either .If you take football out of the equasion ,they are pretty much the same type of people ie, you will find the Good, Bad and Ugly amoung both sets of people, as you will in any city .

probably you are right. but once you get a reputation...

you can build a thousand bridges, and you will only ever be an engineer.

but, you fcuk one goat, you will always be a goat fukcer :)

but even then, and even the comparisions with other footballers, the lad is still a scumbag. it doesnt matter how good he is, it doesnt matter what he does, he is still the bloke who has done a lot of very bad things.

roy keane, one of the best ever players in the world in my eyes, and still a complete dcik for doing alf whatshisname from city on purpose.
