Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I use a card reader on my Linux netbook from time to time and it works fine. Just shows as another drive. You'll pick up a reader for a couple of euro handy enough so it might be worth having one anyway.

I dunno if it makes a difference, but try connecting with the camer off then switching it on. FWIW I love my 350D.

It's good practice to have a device turned off when connecting to the USB.

I am not familar with Linux, but on other oerating systems the camera will show up as an external drive. It's then just a matter of dragging the images, or folder, across to the main HDD.

I tend to use a Card Reader. They are very cheap. You can pick them up in Tesco for about €10.

Some Linux distros wont connect using USB, so the options might be limited, although I would have thought that most (at this stage) would have USB implemented, have you tried the camera on a windows box - to make sure its working correctly? other than that a card reader is the way to go!
if the distro can use USB try gphoto2 :)

I not 100% certain of this but I have a feeling that Canon cameras use PTP instead of USB Mass Storage. PTP may not be natively supported on the linux netbook so the options would be to install some software to support it or pop the card into a card reader.
