Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

the ref turned down two blatant pens. SU can have no complaints about the sending off. Burnley missed two clear cut chances so all in all congrats to Burnley - although odds are they'll be straight down next year.

Mike Dean is a disgrace, there was controversy before the game with his appointment, he seems to have it in for Sheffield United all the time.
Now we have two clear penalty decisions today and two yellow cards for handball but yet there is handball at the other end and nothing done about it. There was a clear foul also just outside the box and he gives a goal kick to Burnley. He doesn't yellow card Burnley's players for bad challenges but does sends off a Sheffield United player. Its just stinks. I'm disgusted.

Sheffield United have had problems with him before also and were not happy with his appointment today. Clearly they were right.
Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell is unhappy that Mike Dean will be refereeing Monday's Championship play-off final against Burnley at Wembley.

Blackwell is still seething at Dean's decision to send off Blades defender Matthew Kilgallon during the Steel City derby earlier in the season.

He fumed: "I'm disappointed with the appointment of Mike Dean. I marked him low after that game (against Wednesday) and now he gets this job.

"It's not good for Mike Dean and it's not good for Kevin Blackwell or Sheffield United as our last meeting was less than amicable.

"It puts him under pressure and it's not as if there aren't any other top refs out there. The lads were amazed when Killa was sent off in that one.

"Common sense, in life these days, seems to have gone out of the window. Why put Dean in that position?"

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell has accused the Football League of "stupidity" over the appointment of referee Mike Dean for the Coca-Cola Championship play-off final against Burnley.
Dean enraged Blackwell for his controversial dismissal of Blades defender Matt Kilgallon in the Steel City derby at Hillsborough in October and the United manager is furious the Wirral-based official has been placed in charge of Monday's annual showdown at Wembley.
Blackwell said: "For the life of me I just can't understand what they are thinking.
"We had major ructions with Mike Dean at Hillsborough. `Killa' had been sent off and I marked the referee accordingly and I can't understand the insensitivity of putting someone in who we had a major run-in with.
Asked whether the official's appointment could have a bearing on the final, Blackwell added: "I hope it doesn't. It shouldn't be that managers and players of a football club go into a game knowing that we've had problems with the referee.
"I just can't understand the thinking of it whatsoever, so I've let my feelings be known and I'm very disappointed with it. I've not had a lot of response. You don't tend to get it with these people and I'm very disappointed."

Given how much they concede to their Steel City neighbours in financial muscle these days, a derby win tastes particularly sweet to Wednesday, who downed their ambitious rivals for the second year running at Hillsborough by virtue of a splendidly-executed goal from Steve Watson in a match marked by red cards shown on and off the field by referee Mike Dean.
The Wirral official sent off United's Matt Kilgallon after 27 minutes in the most influential decision of the match but also dismissed Wednesday's Jermaine Johnson in the second half after he had been substituted, issuing a second yellow card to the winger for kicking a water bottle into the crowd in his anger at being taken off.

t left both sides with a suspension to contemplate at a busy point in the season, although it was Kilgallon's removal that was the more meaningful yesterday. The defender was shown a straight red card after a waist-high challenge on Wednesday's Sean McAllister. It looked more an act of commitment than malice but Dean clearly believed it was too dangerous to be excused. McAllister certainly felt Kilgallon's studs in his back as he tried to take evasive action.

You put that together pretty quick. Match only finished ten minutes ago.Even Phil Brown isn't that fast to blame others.

sheffield utd were not good enough over the 90 minutes to win eagle eye. get over it. there was a few bad calls but ultimately burnley deserved to go through. not having beattie is an obvious hole in utd's attack and it showed today

Delighted that Chris Morgan gets no glory either. He should have been jailed for his assault on the Barnsley lad Hume earlier in the season.

No sympathy for Sheffield United as they condoned his attack of the player by not disciplining him :)

Don't know how big it is, but it's a big town to Blackburn,

the return of the East Lancashire Derby next year,

Massive game for both clubs and one of the oldest derby matches in english football,

Can't wait for the fixture list to be generated.
