Ants in the soil.

I have a raised vegetable bed. I disturbed a large colony of ants under a block that was in my way about ten days ago. Now the ants are all over the place. Will they eventually just go away and could they do damage in the meantime? My cauliflower plants have died and I dont know why. Thanks. AR
