Basically where would i buy one?
Discovered the rear brake was grinding last week my mechanic had a look at it an told me i was seized. He's a mate so told me to take it away and take it off and get the piston out and bring it back to him for a look. He says a new set of seals will do for it so hence the question. 2000 audi s6 quattro.

Audi dealership, motor factors, good mechanic should know where to get them.

I'd recommend forget arsing around with seal kits and just replace the wheel cylinder or caliper, whichever the case may be...

Thanks lads i was hoping for an online alternative to see if i could save, i like to shop around. I'll try Local Audi tomorrow.

@Darragh29: thanks for the suggestion but why would i spend potentially hundreds on something when a mechanic i trust has told me a simple replacement of a rubber seal will do. The piston isnt scored or the cylinder, it really is just a knackered seal and a bit of dirt by the looks of it.

    Danger,

Try dealerships up north, might get a more competitive price.

I'd be surprised if a main dealer will sell a repair kit for a brake caliper.

It is hard to get them for clutch slave cylinders at this stage let alone brake components.

Any suggestions where to go then aptly named one?

Personally I would either give Traynors in the north a buzz, see if they have a 2nd hand caliper.

You say it is a rear caliper... does it do both the footbrake and handbrake?

Another place you could try is GSF auto parts. Had a quick look at their website and a caliper for an A6 is about 70 quid

Contact "Big Redd" on ebay UK, they specialise in brake caliper seals kits and may be able to supply one for your car even if they don't currently have an ebay listing for it

Also, do some research using Audi specific websites and see if the calipers/seal on the S6 were fitted to other Audi models. It may be the case that the S6 use the same seals as other A6 models.

hey lads thanks for the suggestions. I ordered from main dealer yesterday and lo and behold the ordered me bloody standard a4/a6 ones. Too small obviously. They're ordering the proper ones but they'll probably be a week.
I also tried big red to see if they had them. They need to know the piston size. I measured with a ruler and i'm guessing 42mm, i've no vernier on me. The caliper itself has a 43 written on it would that be the piston size?

    Danger where are you based?

I have a very near calipers if required to confirm sizing. PM me if you need it.
