Should the manager not have rang the UK for ya ?

The fact that it was not used that often is the clincher for me.

Nintendo will not do anything for ya. Look at the way they have always treated their customers, late games releases to Europe etc.

Isn't the the legal requirement the reasonable lifespan of the product? A Nintendo Wii is hardy designed to be used for just 12 months.

That's kind of the point; the manufacturer of an item eventually has to be the ultimate arbiter of the technical life expectancy of a product they make because they are the only ones who have tested its tolerances. So if Nintendo say they only expect a Wii to last 12 months (which effectively they do by offering a 12 month warranty), then no one else can 'reasonaby' expect it to last longer.

No i don't believe thats the case. The warranty is only how long the manufacturer is willing to repair it, not the stated lifespan of the product. The SCC will take in cost and fit for purpose. Example would be a laptop. They come with 12 month warranties but would you expect a laptop to only last one year? No. Therefore its not reasonable period.

In my case we'll find out whats reasonable period for a Nintendo Wii soon enough. GAME loses a customer no matter the outcome.

take the manufacturer out of the equation altogether as they have nothing to do with your statutory rights!

the retailer is obliged to repair replace or refund for faults even if they are known manufacturing faults!
