I have been looking around for info on resitting one or two subjects for the leaving cert.
I did my leaving cert in 2006 and am looking to resit biology and home ec. could anyone point me in the right direction? is it doable? (only resitting 2 subjects?) where do i have to go to register to take them next year etc.
    Thanks in advance

Yes it is but you cant add points from two different sittings of the leaving cert together. But you can add grades IE: someone fails maths they can go back and get the D in it next year, it wont be added on points wise just grades to get into college courses etc.

just apply as an external student via www.examinations.ie

Home economics: I'm not that familiar with the course but isn't there a practical element to it you would have to attend the lab for?

Biology: Going strictly by the book you have to do the experiemnets and record the results. There are spot inspections by the department and if you haven't got them done they can stop you doing the exam. Unlikely you would be checked though but watch out if you are doing it from home

yes for the vast majority of courses ...........apart from medicine (plus maybe a few others?) where the minimum requirements plus points have to be at the one sitting

Where in the country are you?

For example, there are many places in the Dublin area offer night classes for Leaving Cert.. There is Pearse College (CDVEC) that specialises in repeat and adult Leaving Cert. courses.

Contact your local VEC and ask.

To just register to do the exam you contact the SEC before mid-January or so.
