Was just testing the fps on my M4,
and it went through both sides of the can :eek:
I used a 7UP can, instead of the normal coke can,
do different cans give different results
or is the fps way too high?

Different cans will be made in different ways/materials and such.

Completly unreliable way to test FPS.

You're better using a proper chrono to get an accurate result

Your local site or retailer will have one.

Try a coke can, if it just about puncture both sides its around one joule. But i dont think that will work with site owners or gardai. Redwolf have an article on it if you want more info

Don't even bother doing this It's wildly unreliable.

    What type of coke can?
How far away should you be?
    Shooting straight down or horizontally?
Just about puncture? how do you measure that?

This type of test gives you no real info at all.

    Get it chrono'd properly!

    understatement of the year!

Cans of coke are for 12 year old american kids with useless aegs to boast about online, it is the worst half assed rumour about airsoft that you can use this "method" to gauge fps. And is guaranteed to get you in trouble if you use it in this country.

They don't have a 1 joule law to worry about, we do, so get down to a retailer or site or a mates and use their chronograph, not some empty soft drinks container you find lying around outside.

For the record, that understatement was intentional!

    Fair enough, lesson learned,
last time I use information from Redwolf,
no need to get annoyed over it though :/

Damn thats cheap! But having your own chrono would be pointless I think unless your an avid upgrader or importer.

I got a cheap one from RSOV, it is designed primarily for Air Rifles and is junk.

Thats on to buy list pending my reading of a review.

that chrono is crap, they can go a bit mad and give wild readings. i shot a KAR98 through one and got 700fps when it was actually firing 260.
Stick to Xcortech, its the most reliable chrono ive used. :)
