    Ive got a standard dboys m4 s system,with a terrible 8.4 battery,

would a lipo battery be a good idea to change over to?
would my standard charger do it?

do i need to change anything else?

    cheers

NOOO do not use a normal charger for a lipo batt. Veryy bad combo
A proper lipo battery carger is the only thing to use,
A mosfet would be a good idea, along with the lipo

ya i heard that the lipo 7.2 gave them same rof as a 9.6 firefox etc..

the short chargng time was what had me so interested!

thats two of the pros! aswell as lighter, smaller and lasts longer

the cons though are they can go on fire when charging, if one of the cells gets damaged they can go on fire, if its discharged below a certain voltage they can go on fire.

they need to be treated with respect!!!!

Make sure you get a good LiPo, as some, Firefox for example, tend to have a low discharge rate of 12C. Such a battery, at 11.1, will give minimal gains, compared to a 9.6 NiMh, because a good NiMh has a similar discharge rate. You want a 20-30C LiPo to get the full benefit. A mosfet and good shim job are also required.

Your grand sticking with a 7.4 lipo. It wont do any damge. A neat shim would be advisable though.

Sorry I read that wrong. Yeah the charger will do but I don't really recommend using those cheap chargers that come with the guns.

Depends if you have a mini charger or not.

or if the battery itself is a mini battery.

Need another charger. yours does 8.4V, and the new battery is 9.6V. Your charger needs to be capable of that.

DON'T use the charger you get with the gun they are bad quality and probally ruin the battery, i use a proper charger for charging r/c car batterys and it works really good
