Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No it stands for the same thing just different languages have different ways of saying it :D

In the Case of GT TDIs ithe GT stands for Great Threat,as the are weapons of mass destruction.

Calling it Grand Turismo, or Long Journey (to be pedantic) is an odd way of naming cars when you think about it. The term originally came from a guy who walked around Europe in the 1600's.

I think the term was first introduced to describe sports cars which were also practical and could be used for long drives/motoring holidays.

    +1

And those cars happened to be Italian, so GT means Gran Turismo (and not grand touring or anything else :D)

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe "GT" is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

First used by Lancia in the mid fifties on the Aurelia, the first series production car to be fitted with a V6. Ask the VW engineers!
