Trey Azagtoth showed why he is perhaps the premier songwriter and guitarist of his ilk with this record.
Developing the blast beat, frenzied power of Altars of Madness, BATS showed Morbid Angel in a far more mature light. Every song is classic from "Thy Kingdom Come" to the epic title track which actually got some airplay on MTV and the catchy "Ancient Ones".
David Vincent's vocals are great too and are actually discernible!
The contrast between the fast and slow parts of the songs was really a breath of fresh air to Death metal.
