If you are stupid enough to believe that somebody was doing a credit check on you and that they would leave a message on your phone.....then you deserve to lost credit!!!!

    No one deserves that
Not everyone is as technology savvy / street wise as AH posters

It's not being tech savvy. It's called common sense

I'm glad to see that the OP did have the common sense to google the number before ringing it back

Even the scammers are getting with the times. "You just won a holiday" scam is pretty sh1t now as very few can afford to go even if the flights are paid for.

I'd say almost everyone is worried about credit issues.... Smart little scammers.

To say people are stupid, well, arent they? Think of all the people who fell for the holiday scam.

Remember, to ring that number is a knee jerk reaction. Most people will do it without much thought, and do it out of fear.

Ringing from your work phone. So basically you are giving scammers money. Good one. Would not like to be the owner of a company that has you as one of its employees.

Thanks very much for that, my scambaiting alter-ego will be giving them a call off Skype shortly.

Not ringing premium numbers or costing the company money though.

Well you are costing them money as you are on boards instead of working.

I would not be doing anything else anyway and my boss would have no problem with me being on boards. Not sure you could say the same. I don't know what point you are trying to argue. It's pretty bad to be ringing premium rate numbers from work and then coming on here more or less saying " ripping off my employer FTW .... Must do it agian after lunch". I think you will agree:). Maybe not though.

    i'm the boss at work

i gave a written warning to a person with a 3 post count for browsing boards during work

The point I am trying to make is that we are both wasting our employers money.

    You fail at punctuation.

At least the scammer has partly succeeded in their mission - at least they're wasting SOMEONE's money!

Have you tried one of the online reverse lookup tools like white pages or yellow pages? Those are pretty good with reverse number searches.
