Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

it was in the tone of the rest of the messages, firmly tongue in cheek. however it wasn't meant to offend, so i've deleted it.

i did show it to my wife before i deleted it though and the response was ah FFS what's the big deal.

guilty as charged. Just can't be ar$sed with an argument over that so if it offends then better to delete it

The offend word should be banned as offending to humanity, it's getting ridiculous at this point.

Who said recently about the erosion of the distinction between offended and harassed?

The key difference being that you have the right to not be harassed.

Harassment is on a whole different level than someone being offended. Anyway, we 're way off topic of this kinda of talk in here so I 'll just leave this article here and go.

Lazy and outmoded gender stereotypes help no one. It's tiresome, old fashioned and unnecessary. It's also extremely annoying to read crap like that in this day and age. It's perfectly reasonable not to be delighted with it.

    I got them from evans.

Cheapest place I could find that they were in stock. They were floating around for less earlier in the year but I couldn't find cheaper last week.

So I'd been keeping an eye out for a replacement set of shoes for a while, as my Bontragers (RL Road) have been glued a couple of times at this stage, and are getting pretty tatty from commuting, etc. not to mention smelly from just being several years old! Then Canyon popped up with their shoe sale yesterday, and it seemed rude to turn down a 55% off pair of Northwave Torpedo Plus in (hopefully!) my size:
    zoom_9026164_thumb_3946__product-view.png

Slightly concerned that the sole may be a step down from the full carbon on the bontragers, but I'd imagine once there's enough carbon in the centre of the sole they should be more than adequate for my purposes, and considering I had been looking at the Fizik R5Bs which are similarly reinforced rather than full carbon, it seemed worth going for. Still kicking myself for not nabbing those R3s on Planet X a couple of years ago mind!

^black bar tape for the true ninja look.

  • Registered Users Posts: 109 ✭✭oakley2097

I do have a roll of black bar tape, other option would be to throw some dirt at it, how long can it stay white ?

Not long! Head wrecking to watch it get grubby.

  • Registered Users Posts: 109 ✭✭oakley2097

I'd like to know why bike companies keep putting white bar tape

Will it be as neat if i wrap it with black tape?

I have seen a really cool handlebar that would suit it, Enve ses aero.... maybe I should get it then retape

Similar to what I have but mine don't stick out like Chris Froome's elbows like the ones above. Flat wide tops are lovely to ride with.

Last bike was a cube agree, even after only a few km the propel is much faster (I did add the C50 wheels and Gp 4000 now vs GP4S before) 10 weeks off the bike and already cruising faster than before the accident

Can wait for the weekend and my first long spin

What kind of bars do you have ?

The sticky out elbow would look kinda silly but the narrow top and wider drops make sense to me

I had very similar bars, Ritchey Streem II WCS bars, they have flat tops, 4 degree sweep back and are flared in the drops so they stick out slightly. I loved them at first but recently took them off as I no longer found them comfortable.

I have a carbon set of bars with the stem fully integrated into it with flat tops. By BBB. Complimented by the Campag shifters! Love it.

Its fast, very very fast and comfortable, stable in the wind so all good

braking is positive more to learn but some very good impression

I'm sure the wheels, DA C50 and conti Gp4000i 23c have a lot to do with it

Just starting to build up distances so maybe a 100km this weekend to push a bit more

I'm arriving at the stage where I wish company's would put place holder wheels and saddles and let people pick what they want. Id love to have tried it with the P-SLR1 aero wheels

Thanks for the follow up. Mine should arrive today hopefully :)

The PSLR wheels are reportedly a bit heavy(I think... I might be getting confused with others).

  • Registered Users Posts: 109 ✭✭oakley2097

I think the PLSR wheels were 1800g this year and 1600g in previous years, owing to a change in hubs DT350's instead of DT240's but still great wheels

Which model are you getting ?

An 'advanced 1 ltd'. So the black/white colour scheme but with ultegra rather than 105. Also the PA2 wheels.... Hopefully I'll have some money to change those early next year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 109 ✭✭oakley2097

I'd start a Christmas present fund, maybe 'buy me spokes' and see if you can get a few people to help, December/January is usually pretty good for sales, when the temperature dips below 0 and are only a few very hardy cyclist out

My bigger gripe with the 105 version was the r500 chainset, id have paid €25-30 more if they had just included it, oh and the bar tape I don't think im going to get on with it

How tall are you and what size did you go for ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,648 ✭✭✭bp_me

5'9 and went for the small after lots of careful consideration. The only dimension where its actually much smaller than my current bike is the seat tube but that's a largely irrelevant dimension. Everything else is a tiny bit smaller which is good but I think the position is going to be a bit more aggressive anyway which should be 'fun'.

Funnily enough the 36*28 is a lower gear than the 34*25 on my current main bike so I'm thinking about christening it at the Sk160 this weekend.

    I am weak.

Garmin Virb just ordered on Sportspursuit.

Wishing I could have recorded a bunch of awesome nature moments and wishing I could leave behind a record of my murder by an Aircoach driver put the idea in my head (don't use my roadbike for commutes so no fear of a YouTube channel).

As a cyclist there are whole days go by, indeed sometimes even whole weeks or months, when I don't buy a new bike. And then there are days when I buy two of them. Saturday was one of those days!!

One for me and one for herself.

Still have it, kitted out for bad weather and luggage. But I am going with the theory that it does not matter how good the bike you have is, there is always reason to get another one.
