Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I can only think of Police Squad - Naked Gun

    Any thoughts?

The bad ones are too obvious...need to stay positive...

There haven't been many (successful), but Star Trek springs to mind, with two separate series spawning a series of quite successful movies.

This would be a much bigger, and better thread, if we allowed the bad ones. Aw :(

    The Addams Family?

    S.W.A.T was also good imo.

My personal favourite though is Dragnet with Dan Aykroyd

Those adaptations were so successful that most people aren't even aware that there was a TV show!

I kind of liked State of Play, though the BBC version was much better.

The Mission Impossible movies were very successful. I also happen to like The Fugitive with Harrison Ford.

Taking "successful" to mean critically or commercially acclaimed :

    Successful and Enjoyable:

Beavis & Butt head do America
    Dad's Army
    The Muppet Movie
    MST3K
    Waynes World
    The Blues Brothers
    South Park
    Maverick (Just about scrapes in)

Successful but not very good movies :

    Charlies angels
    Sex and the City
    Mr Bean
    Jackass
    The X Files movie
    Dukes of Hazzard
    The Flinstones
    Get Smart
    Inspector Gadget
    The Saint
    Scooby Doo

Not "Successful" but quite good, in a "guilty pleasure" sort of way:

    Dragnet
Twin Peaks Fire walk with me
    S.W.A.T.
    Josie & The pussycats
The X Files - I want to believe
    I Spy
    Pennies from Heaven
    The Ladies man

    Not Successful, and rubbish:

    Mr Magoo
    Son of the Pink Panther
    The Mod Squad
    It's Pat
    Whoops Apocalypse
    Popye
    Wild Wild West
    Reno 911
    Sgt Bilko

Told to watch this by boards, total rubbish, I am sure the show is even worse :)

I can be blunt when I want.

Have to agree with you Elmo, I thought it was okay but totally over-rated.

Can we go the other way?

The 'Friday Night Lights' movie was turned into a fantastic TV show.

    MST3K

MST3K doesn't really fit in here

As a movie adaptation of a TV show?

    Why not?

Yep - without a shadow of a doubt.
And I'm not just saying that because the cast are friends of the wife and I.

Watched about 10 minutes of it and hated it. I have come to the conclusion that I hate any TV Show and movie with the word "Ship" in it or is based in a ship, like Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate and of course Firefly/Serenity.

Or si-fi as its more commonly known as :)

Try battlestar galactica, i only started watching pretty much due to posts here amd i thinkots deadly but very different in the first 8 episodes anyway from any other "ship" tv show.
