Oh God! basically it's like this.. after finding out gates would'nt open I checked fuse (ESB) and it was tripped put it back up again and no luck (the phone intercom works fine) I then opened the 4 locks on the gate for manual opening but they won't budge, tried everything including the code on the outside panel several times. Make of gates is GENIUS with a comelit keypad, can anyone help??

is there a hydraulic arm that opens the gate?
is there a motor box the opens the gate on a single tract?

either the arm or the box should (might) have a lock on it, this is a mechanical override, you should have a key for this that will allow gates to open manually.

Thanks Stoner, after getting to work, my good wife had called a friend and found that after unlocking the lock for the manual overide I had not pulled the lever out far enough!! it's fine now on manual opening but being a long weekend I won't be able to find anyone to sort the real problem out till at least tuesday. But at least I can open and close them manually. I fear the motor, or a relay to the motor is blown so it needs a specialist.

ahh thats a pity and a common error though , so dont cut yourself up about it, many of those gates have cut outs on them so it might not be that bad, if you are stuck for hrlp and you dont know a specialist let me know I might know somone out your direction (depending on the direction)

Thanks so much again, I actually opened the control panel/electrics box next to the gates this morning but just saw a load of pcb's and things, i guess i was looking for a fuse or switch but just decided to close it up again. I'm in the Limerick area btw and would be grateful if you knew anyone down here that could have a look at them. Cheers.

sorry I dont know anyone in that direction how knows about Access control doors, I know there are a few about though, there have been training courses on systems organised in limerick.

Maybe google FAAC or your make and model and check for local distributes. either that or a security company would be your best bet.

l'd say the control is ok and the problem is with your 230volt isolator switch at the gate .the intercom is usely supplyed from inside the house so that why that is working.

I worked doing electric gates for 11 years and trust me there could be a number of things wrong. What kind of gate is it ie. slider or swinging.
The fact you said the power had tripped tells me that something major might have gone like a motor because if any of the acceseraries like photocells keypads etc went they would be unlikly to blow the mains as they are protected by 1 to 5 amp fuses in the panal

Changing a like for like motor is a straight forward job and you could do it yourself thats to say a faulty motor is the problem in the first place and you might find it hard locating the same one you have.GENIUS wouldn`t be one of the more comman makes availible.
Like i said there could be any number of things wrong. It really needs to be looked at by someone who knows their stuff and unfortunatly limerick is a bit out of my range.A little tip though watch out for the cowboy who will try to tell you the whole system needs to be changed;)

Hi, I'm new here, and am hoping someone may be able to help me, My Swing Electric gates have stopped working, They have underground hydraulics. The transmitter battery is fine. The Keypad which usually has a red light illuminated doesnt respond, the red light is out and the buttons dont beep. I called a specialist, they said no powere to the keypad and thus the control panel is faulty and needs replacing cost £350 (ouch) I identified the control GiBiDi F4 and have been quoted £186 for the control panel & £79 for the plug in receiver - My question is - do I need both these parts ? is the existing panel repairable ? it has power and red lights are illuminated... any help would be appreciated please....
