There'll be an all-day board-gaming event in Models Inc, Dorset Street on Saturday the 13th of June.

Everybody, whether completely new to board-gaming, or a long-term fan is welcome.

There will be longer-duration games starting at 11:00 and 3:30, with an experienced player there to show people how to play. Spaces in these games will go to those who have pre-signed up for them, and any extra spaces to anybody on the day who wishes to play.

Plenty of quicker games will be going on all the time, so there's no need to sign up to the longer games if you don't want to. However, if you're interested in one of them, and are SURE you'll be there, then please do sign up.

Players should have time to go out for lunch during the gap between games. Sandwiches are available for sale in Models Inc in case of emergency ;)
The following games have scheduled start times,
    and pre-sign-up lists further down.

    Arkham Horror: 2-6 players, co-operative http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/15987
Arkham Horror is a cooperative adventure game themed around H.P Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Players choose from 16 Investigators and take to the streets of Arkham. Before the game, one of the eight Ancient Ones is chosen and it's up to the Investigators to prevent it from breaking into our world. During the course of the game, players will upgrade their characters by acquiring skills, allies, items, weapons, and spells. It's up to the players to clean out the streets of Arkham by fighting many different types of monsters, but their main goal is to close portals to other dimensions that are opening up around town. With too many portals open the Ancient One awakens and the players only have one last chance to save the world. Defeat the Ancient One in combat!

    BattleStar Galactica: 3-6 players, semi co-operative http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/37111
Battlestar Galactica is an exciting game of mistrust, intrigue, and the struggle for survival. Based on the epic and widely-acclaimed new Sci Fi Channel series, Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game puts players in the role of one of ten of their favorite characters from the show. Each playable character has their own abilities and weaknesses, and must all work together in order for humanity to have any hope of survival. However, one or more players in every game secretly side with the Cylons. Players must attempt to expose the traitor while fuel shortages, food contaminations, and political unrest threatens to tear the fleet apart.

    Descent: 2-5 players http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/17226
A dungeon crawl game using modular boards and scenarios. One player acts as the Overlord, controlling the forces of evil - monsters, traps, and general mayhem, while the others take on the roles of adventurers co-operatively exploring a fantasy dungeon.

Shadows Over Camelot: 3-7 players, co-operative, with a traitor http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/15062
In most games, players compete against each other to achieve victory. Shadows over Camelot proposes a journey of a very different kind, where you and your fellow players, as Knights of the Round Table, will collaborate to jointly defeat... the game! At first glance, this task seems simple enough. After all, shouldn't a band of young and noble Knights - fleet of foot and sound of mind - easily defeat a game that plays itself? Alas your quest is further complicated by the ever-present possibility of a Traitor in your midst, biding his time, waiting to strike at the worst possible moment...

A Touch of Evil: 2-6 players, competitive or co-operative http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/35815
A Touch of Evil is a fast-paced game of fiendish creatures, dashing Heroes, and high-adventure. Each player takes on the role of a unique monster-hunting Hero, racing against time to stop the forces of darkness from claiming another foothold in the world of man. Only by investigating the town and building your Hero's strength can you hope to hunt down the Supernatural Villain to his Lair and defeat him in an epic Showdown. Players can race Competitively to be the first to defeat the Villain and save the town, or they can work together Cooperatively to defeat a much stronger Villain. The game will be played in competitive, not co-operative mode, during the scheduled game, as this is the default mode of play for the game.

Last Night on Earth: 2-5 players http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/29368
Last Night on Earth, The Zombie Game is a survival horror board game that pits small-town Heroes head-to-head against a limitless horde of Zombies (players can play on the Hero team or as the Zombies). A modular board randomly determines the layout of the town at the start of each game and there are several different scenarios to play. Fast Paced Game Play with easy to learn rules allows players to jump right into the action, while strategic depth and strong co-operative Play keeps the game interesting. (not currently scheduled, may be if there is sufficient demand/someone to run it)

    Signup:
If you're certain you'll be there, then you can sign up for a scheduled game. Email staff [at] boardgamesday-ireland.org to sign up. Please include a mobile phone number, so I can call to confirm you're coming if you're late for a scheduled game. Please, if you can't make it, do email me as far in advance as possible and I'll remove you from the list - the other players are to an extent relying on signed up people to show up. If you're not sure if you'll make it, then don't worry, just come along and there'll be gaming for anybody dropping by. You don't need to sign up to any scheduled games even if you're planning on playing all day long.

If there is enough demand to schedule a 2nd running of one of these games we'll try our best to accomodate.
