Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I am trying to back up some Wedding DVDs onto my PC and then re edit them using pinnacle. I am using VLC to do this. Should I convert to MP4, AVI or what video format when I am transferring from DVD to my computer.
    any tips appreciated.

    Thanks.

There's a very good software for converting to various "containers" like avi.
    http://www.erightsoft.com/Superdc.html

Avi is not a format at all, it's a container. The containers are just used to organise the data.
Use a codec like ffv1 or huffyuv they're both losless codecs meaning quality doesn't change.
It will shrink the filesize by about half depending on the content. If you need to shrink it further for various reasons, you could then use a codec like, h.264/avc or xvid etc.
