Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Insuring two cars

Just wondering if anyone would know an insurance company that would insure two cars on the one policy?

With motorbikes there are a few companies who'll do this no problem but I've never checked with car insurers...

Basically I want to get a 'nice' daily driver and something a bit more 'fun' for weekends and track days

    I won't be looking at classic cars so that's a non-runner for me :(

Nobody in Ireland does it. A small number of firms give a second car discount (one direct - well whoever actually underwrites for them does anyway).

The whole concept of only being able to drive one of the cars hasn't sunk in to insurers here yet - obviously there's the concern that a mother/father could insure two nice cars on a single policy and let their kids who are insured on 850cc Seicento's drive them under 'driving other vehicle' clauses; but that doesn't stop such policies existing in the UK.

have second car insured by your dad/mom/gf and as long as you have comprehesive insurance you can drive ANY other car (that is insured by someone else) and be insured (it's only 3rd part, but still)

not necessary, most fully comp insurance policies allow you to drive other cars TPFT under your own policy as long as the other car is in somebody eles name and insured in another persons name.

You don't have to have Comp to get the driving of other cars extension, it also comes with TPO and TPF&T. Read your certificate carefully as, in addition to the car having to belong to someone else, it can also exclude spouse's cars or family members with whom you ordinarily reside.
