Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I need to write up an assignment on those large solar fields they set up in remote locations, deserts etc. I need to cover how they convert DC to AC and how they store or feed the main gird,
is it dirty power like wind power? what are the min problems with it etc.

Any help or good reliabale site would be appreciated, thank you.

Or solar mirror arrays such as this one

This seems to be the way solar is heading for large scale generation, PV is not quite up to scratch yet due to economics.

Entry also in Wikipedia on Nevada Solar One.

The US have been doing solar power generation for years. I drove past a large parabolic concentrator plant in the Mojave desert, on route from LA to Las Vegas in 2000.
On the same trip we also tried calling into Edwards Air Force Base for a visit 'on spec'. I'll never forget the look of incredulity on the guards face when we asked him if it was OK to drive in for a look around! Ah the memories :D
