I have three comparative, I'm just wondering how to structure the essay.

How do you structure the essay (Eg: Give a brief summary at the beginning of each?), I haven't done that many of them.

    Please and thank you.

For my cultural context essay I discuss each text under the headings of:

    Introduction

    Poverty
    Strained family life
Ability of men to express feelings.
    Snobbery & Class Divisions
    Patriarchal (male dominated) society
    Church
Anything uniquely different between each..eg Role of Mafia in Cinema Paradiso

    Conclusion

    In General Vision & Viewpoint...
    I discuss...
    • Intro (name what you've studied), Name your understanding of Gen Vis + V.P
    • Openings in each.. Bright, Dark, Mixed.
    • Key Relationships..again, bright, dark, mixed. Positive/Negative
    • Society in which each text is set -optimistic/indifferent/balanced/realistic view
    • Sense of Community
    • Ending - grim vision / personal success not met with personal happiness / ends in varying ways...

For a Cultural Context essay, be sure in the opening paragraph to name the texts and their writers/directors and also address the question. Also, give a brief intro to each part, i.e. "PHIC is set in a rural Irish town and takes part on the night before the lead character Gar leaves for the US". Then have a paragraph for each of the things you'll be talking about, and do at least 4 (Religion, Poverty, Class Divisions etc.). And then a conclusion addressing the question. The amount of texts you do depends on the question but it's generally 3.

For the theme and issue question I was only going to address one theme, the father son relationship, and mention the lack of the mother. Should I do multiple themes?

    Texts =

Philadelphia here I come - Brian Friel
    Cinema Paradiso - Guiseppe Tornatore
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. - Mark Haddon

I'm guessing you have the same sample essay on PHIC,CP and MOC as me  lol

Multiple themes a no-no, the question is titled 'Theme or Issue' not 'Themes or Issues'

if you get stuck, you could make your theme relationsips in general. you can then talk about relationships between kate + gar/toto and elena.
