on a side note, read on football365 that zola said we spent 60mil this summer!? crouch+bassong+kyle walker+naughton = 60million? this isnt correct - who am i missing?

Not a hope, i'd say maybe 25 million tops. Unless he means since he took over west ham, would that be about right?

We actually didn't spend anything this summer, money we got in for Zokora & Bent more than balanced the books.

I wouldn't be too opposed to taking Distin & James as cover. Distin v.experienced & would do a job with all our injuries at CB. James, although a clown, we would at least be replacing like for like with Gomes!

Everything else unbelievably good at the mo, modric, defoe, keane, lennon, palacious & Hudd playing like world-beaters!! If they continue playing like this we don't need anyone else..

Yep, typical ignorance, its the same with the tv commentators/analysts. £31m for Berbs + £8m profit on Keane meant that even over the course of last season we made a net profit on transfers..

If we actually started spending who knows where we could end up?!

Never understood why we had him back, better to get the 2 mill than pay his wages & rot in the reserves

Perhaps now those who suggested that Huddlestone should be sold in the transfer window based on the 'too slow', 'can't tackle' etc....will see the folly of their words

Football 365 reporting that Boateng is joining Pompey.. fine by me :D

However, they are also saying that Jamie O'Hara has moved to Pompey on loan until January. I'm not one bit happy with this move, it leave us very light on numbers in CM and he was a very handy option off the bench to shore up the left side of midfield in a game we are trying to kill off. I can only assume that this Kevin Anin guy or Sulley Muntari are on their way.

Also read somewhere that Gareth Bale is wanted on loan by Newcastle, I'd rather hang on to him as back-up for BAE and Luka.

Be dissapointed if O'Hara left on loan. We need to keep the strength in depth we have and he is a decent utility player to have on bench.

I like O'Hara I have said it a few times but in fairness to the lad I think he deserves a go somewhere. I wouldn't like to see him go by any means but I think he could do a job at some club in the prem.

Great to get 4m for prince.
Would be suprised to see ohara leave, as he's a hard worker and can cover several positions.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,395 ✭✭✭Hatch99

OHara signs new deal, and then goes out on loan straight away, WTF

  • Registered Users Posts: 830 ✭✭✭Mullo76

    O hara gets new contract
    www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/newcontractforjamie280809.html
shows someone in the club rates him so maybe transfer talk is rubbish. agree the lad deserves a chance but I think he has a big role to play in our season. Time will tell.

oops, didnt spot the loan was a done deal, surprised at that. from a business point of view makes sense that we tied him in to a contract but really think we should have kept him with us.
Hope we dont regret letting him go.

Yeah very dissapointed to see him leaving on loan. Id like to think we will get 1or2 in, there's talk of petrov from city.

Can't see the point in leaving 0 hara out on loan tbh,he is the kind of player we need when players start getting hit by injuries, it dosen't make sense to me unless somebody else is coming in.

This from bbc, could be nothing at all...

1731: Sources from White Hart Lane report that Roman Pavlyuchenko was seen sprinting away from the ground a mere couple of minutes after full-time against Birmingham, flanked by two men in suits on mobile phones, the Russian jumping into a car and speeding away from the ground with haste. Is the he rushing to broker a move away from Tottenham?"

Rumour today about Zenit St. Petersburg looking for him for £10m.

I'm hoping for quite a bit of movement on transfer deadline day. I'd like to see cover for Modric (is Ashley Young realistic?!), midfield (Carrick return a go-er? Or Muntari) centre back (Distin, Dunne) and goalkeeper (love him or hate him, i can see James coming on a year long deal).

I've not read anything, just saying i think we need re-enforcements!

Thats a shame, i see that deal was done on friday, harry wouldn't have known Ledley was going to get injured on the saturday!

Yep, just heard on the radio that Dunne looks likely for Villa. I think the deal would have been too expensive for us (given his age and the fact he would only be a squad player filling in as required). They want £5/£6m + £2m/yr wages. Villa would want him as a first-teamer so makes sense for them.

Depends on the progress of Woodgate & Dawson from injury. Surely Woodgate must be getting closer, he was back running 2/3 weeks ago?

I just get a feeling Harry will pull something out of the bag (whether it be midfield, winger or central defender - as we have a made quite a good profit over the summer's dealings we have money to spend.

wonder if we will buy a winger. keane will probably slot to left midfield, we are kind of short though

Just heard on Sky Sports Spurs have enquired for both Martin Petrov and Niko Krancjar, apparently a 2.5 mil bid for Krancjar has been put in just now.

Can he play on the left? I always liked him TBH.
