Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was a cracking day today. Headed away early morning in the boat with my dad and little fella. Took in Lambay and the Rockabill lighthouse.

Weather was amazing with some very harsh sunlight. Here is a few that I got to take. Focusing was a little hard with the boat swaying.

    Any C&C most welcome.

Last one was like a scene from a Hitchcock film. The noise approaching the Rock was something else.

Some more of the islands here. We couldn't get on to Lambay and we were only allowed on the jetty on the Rock as the birds were nesting.

The two girls on the dingy were there working, studying conservation. Living on the Island for 4 weeks at a time.

Only got 'lucky' once with a bird getting his or her aim slap bang on my head and neck. Whoever said a bird ****ting on you is lucky!!

Over and out from captain Lobster.

    I like no.2 myself.
3 would have been better if there wasnt something in the background but nothing you could do about that.

That makes it for me actually, I like the contrast.

I absolutely love love love the third one!!! The vibrant red of the beak against the blue background is great!

I'd like to see the second one cropped out of curiosity. (I'm a crop junky though :P)

Ah cool its been a while since i was on rockabill.....

Last time i was there, there was over 600 breeding pairs of common tern on the island. Its literally taken over by birds for several months during the summer, its amazing.

Any if your interested its a common tern in photo 3, which is an excellent shot too :)

    Hi Padraig,

There were some Arctic Terns ,Black Guillemot and Kittiwakes.
Seen a few puffins but could not get any decent photos. Great place though.

My dad retired from fishing and used to bring the coal over to the Rock when it was inhabited back in the days.

Jen - Crop junkie here too. wanted to leave one or two with the blue skies. Have a few cropped on my flickr page.

BF - Zaraba - I personally left the background in on number 3. Felt it added a little more to the photo. But hey that's personal opinions. One likes it, one prefers it without.

    thanks for the comments guys.

    +1 for #3
awesome shot. I agree on losing the background though, would have slightly more impact if it was just bird on sky.

Yep, No. 3 is the winner for me by a mile. Great shot. The contrast and depth of field with the bit of background make the shot.

    Excellent stuff :)
