Shower pressure problem

Only recently the cold water pressure in the upstairs showers has stopped. Can only run it with minimal cold water flowing, and it is too hot to shower in now, due to the normal pressure of hot water.

Anyone have an idea how this could happen, or any fix that might get the cold water pressure up again.

Water runs through a pump in the hotpress, but no looks are vissable.

Baffles me! Did you disconnect the power to the pump and check if the flow is any different if its not its possitive confirmation there is somethin g wrong with your pump!

What's the make of your shower? Presumably it's a mixer type? Is it only the cold supply that's pumped or is it a dual pump?

Shower runs of a pump in the HP. It's a dual pump jobby.

Shower runs of a pump in the HP. It's a dual pump jobby.

Then if the hot water supply to the shower is OK, it sounds like there's a blockage on the inlet side of the cold water supply to the pump. The pump is obviously running or the hot water would be as slow as the cold. Not unusual for dirt or something that's got into the cold water tank to block things down the system.

I would try disconnecting the cold pipe at the pump inlet and see if its blocked. If there's no valve on the pipe, then stick a cork in the outlet pipe in the tank. Put a bucket under the pump end of the pipe and open the valve/take out the cork, and see if there's a good flow out of the pipe end. If there isn't, then the pipe is blocked or airlocked somewhere. If you can run a hose from the mains tap in the kitchen, connect it to the pump end of the pipe and flush it back into the roof tank. That should clear any blockages etc.

Also check the pump inlet to see if anything is plugging that.

Dodgy thermostat in the shower valve perhaps?

There may be a small filter on the shower that has become blocked over time and is reducing the flow of water. This happened to my mira shower and a quick removal and cleaning of the filter had the shower working as normal again.
