Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

surely is this lad was any good, he'd be playing in England?

Surely if Henderson was any good he would be playing higher than League Two?

Has Harper got an Irish Granny..I swear him and Given were seperated at birth. We could play O Shea in goals or get rid of Mc Shane hence no need for a decent goalie!!!!!

... which is to say, the third division.

    I think it's their 4th division

Oh dear. You're right! And there I was thinking they hadn't fooled me. :D

He's playing a fourth division goalie in front of Murph! Have I got this straight?

    Edit: Pat Fenlon's opinion:
“I’ve said before that the people running the game don’t have any interest in the league here…It’s disappointing because we are working really hard to improve the players… People have said for years that they are part-time and their fitness levels wouldn’t be good enough. But that doesn’t wash anymore. I just think there is a case of a lack of interest in the set-up about our own national league, which is very sad.”

Can't disagree with that. Unfortunately this stance only encourages players to move to England (I know its hardly the only reason, but our own FA should at least be trying)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

And furthermore, if the talent that is playing in the LoI is constantly being overlooked for the "National" Team, and moving to England to play, this means that the people who claim "there are no good players in the LoI" as a reason not to attend games are correct.

There is no talent in the LoI - and the FAI is to blame.

Jesus christ, that song posted in another thread, the first two lines really are true, these clowns haven't a notion what they are doing.

A regular at Serie B matches are you?

As regular as I can be.

I'd watch a lot more than most of the LoI fans would watch LoI matches.

Seen most of parmas games this year and a good few livorno games too.

    Irish football fans yes

LOI fans you can hardly say, plently go to close to every game (not just watch)

    Yup.

Been to more league of ireland matches this season though.

First division is sooo bad it hurts, about the same Rayman league first division.

All couple of hundred of the regular supporters, yes.

Trap has really fouled up by playing Given in the Nigeria friendly. Kiely and Westwood should have been given a half each. Capping Westwood is understandable, it's clear that he's the only 'keeper that even remotely looks like he could fill Given's shoes.

Joe Murphy or Paddy Kenny have to be realistic options.

    Wtf are you talking about?

Are you telling us you fly to Italy to watch Serie B every week then fly back to watch the LoI first division?

    http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Football/2009/06/04/LOI-Fenlon-blasts-Trap/gnid-55756/

Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon has blasted Giovanni Trapattoni for ignoring the Ireland claims of goalkeeper Brian Murphy.

The 26-year-old Gypsies stopper has been in impressive form for the last two seasons but Fenlon says it was no surprise that a call-up to replace Dean Kiely and Keiren Westwood was not forthcoming.

Fenlon added that Murphy would need to move to England to have any hope of international honours.

"Yeah, that's what it looks like," said Fenlon.

"I've said before that the people running the game don't have any interest in the league here.

"Unfortunately that's the way it is. There is not a lot that anyone within the league can do about that. It's disappointing because we are working really hard to improve the players. And I think over a period of time the players have improved.

"The games have improved, the quality of players has improved and the fitness levels have improved.

"People have said for years that they are part-time and their fitness levels wouldn't be good enough. But that doesn't wash anymore. I just think there is a case of a lack of interest in the set-up about our own national league, which is very sad."
