Hows that? Did I make lots of mistakes? ;]
I just took a brief glance and I'm pretty sure Question 1 (b) (ii) is Brand C. I almost made the same mistake. B has the highest price per gram. C has the CHEAPEST (lowest) price per gram.

Overall I got a shock when I saw paper 1, it was harder than I expected because it was harder than the 2006, 2007 and 2008 papers (in my opinion) but I think it did good. I got full marks in the first two questions and made a few minor mistakes from then on. Couldn't solve the quadratic equation on Question 6 (c) (i) and I forgot the number line for Question 4 (b) (i)

I got (8, 2.5) for Question 5 (b) (ii). My graph was poor, I drew the lines freehand (I didn't know they were meant to be straight). Anyone know if that's in the leeway?

Irish wasn't too bad. As always, I did useless on the tape.

I think that that notation question was that the power must be within 1<x<10 so -3 can't be right. I gave 0.5208 x 10^1 which comes up correct but somehow I feel it can't be right

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 121 ✭✭6stringmaniac

In the second graph question, I taught that the graph could only go up in 5s/10s for some reason. Which lead to my graph going off the squared part of the paper. Will I lose marks for that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,992 ✭✭✭✭partyatmygaff

Irish was completely random this year, the listening was pretty average except for Cuid B, everything was said fast and mumbled for all of Cuid B and that guy from Donegal sounds impossible to understand.

Paper 1, pretty bad choice of Aiste and scéal, I did the aiste where you describe what job you would like after you leave school and why, wrote about 1 1/2 pages saying how being a musician is great and how you meet new people and get to express yourself from the heart
Waffley bullsh1t, had nothing prepared for something like that at all.

Agallamh was fine, did it with Arnold Schwarznegger as the movie star and lasted about a page.

reading comprehension was very very good, No problems at all with it.

No....... it says that that the power is an element of Z which are all positive and negative whole numbers -3 is right

No, that notation is correct. Question says "express your answer in the form ax10^n, where n is an element of Z and 1<a<10"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35 Setheme

    a has to be in the range 1 < a < 10. Its 7.6
n hast to be in Z (which means Integers - Negative numbers are numbers that are less than zero) so its -3.

    and with the gum..

    Brand A :
    3 x 100g = 300g for 135c [135/300 = 0.45] So its 0.45cent for 1 gram.
    Brand B :
    6 x 100 = 600 for 240c [240/600 = 0.40] So 0.40 cent for 1 gram.
    Brand C :
    4 x 125 = 500 for 238c [238/500 = 0.476] Which gives 0.486 for each gram.

I still think brand B is the cheapest..

i went up in 3's because i couldnt fit it?..

i liked the essay choice because they were so simple and easy to understand:p.. i did the one on my area and just blabbered on about how we have a pitch and a shop:pac:.. and at one stage i was so desperate for ideas that i wrote about how the farmers didnt wash the cows (lack of irish vocab!) and it made the area smelly!!:p

Well for the target audience thing everyone said it was aimed at young people because the style of shoe is mostly worn by young people etc.

For how to get young people interested in talk-raidio or whatever it was called, I talked about having competitions, talking about topics teenagers are interested in e.g. sports, music, fashion. Having a ring-in and text-in service etc.
my friend said it was mostly worn by hippies

not that bad today. Maths I no major problems with.

Irish I did the sceal and worked it into a story involving robbery and accident vocab. Got about 2 and 1/3 pages out of that.

I did the comhra and it ended mostly "me" and my my father arguing and slagging eachother.

    Leamhtuiscint was easy.

What chapters would you study for Geography tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 121 ✭✭6stringmaniac

At the start of the Irish sceal part does it not say "dont write more than a page"

Edit: just checked, says "Ní gá níos mó ná leathanach go leith a scríobh"
Does that mean not to write more than a page?

    Irish was handy out.
Especially the comprhension. If you can understand the questions your sorted.
They tell you how much to write....what a joke lol
    Tape was mumbly..
Tell me I'm not the only one who had very dodgy spelling for some of the key words on the tape?

Our teacher has always told us two pages na dthe revision books say 1 1/2 pages so I just did as much as it took to write the story.

Damn you're right! I put the money in euros. So I was dividing by 2.40 Euro instead of 240 cent.

i got the answer for brand A & B but got it wrong for C!..
But i put down brand B as being the cheapest!..
so i guess i would get most marks, right?

Yeah should do. If you misread and put in a wrong number you might get a slip, 9 marks. If you made a error in calculation you'll probably get 7 marks.

Oh, yeah, I ment minus 6/5.

And with the pool, I took part i) as a different question than parts ii) and iii).
So I was calculating the time for the whole pool, not 3/4...

i this is what i did for the pool question. i think its right

    1/4 + 1/x = 1/3

as it takes three hours to fill the whole pool with both, so one third will be full after one hour

    1/x = 1/3 - 1/4

    1/x = 1/12

i think they were looking for the fraction that would be full with only the small pipe after one hour, so the answer is 1/12

yeah, i was really pissed off with that part alright..
I was running outta time so I just wrote dwon any old equation that came to my head..
and they mixed up the layout of the paper as well which really confused me as well since q.5&6 are usually based on functions.
    grr...:(

are they trying to punish us or something?:(
must admit though, that irish paper today was sh-weet!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 414 ✭✭Dicksboro_man

Thats the solution for the pool question
    its easy

    3 (1/4 + 1/x)=1
    3/4 + 3/x =1
    3/x=1/4
    x=12

Yeah, the irish was easy arite. I think P II will be impossible though :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 RoscoBosco93

Thats the solution for the pool question

they asked how much would be full with just the small pipe in one hour, not how long it would take in total so its 12 hours total, 1/12 for one hour

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 414 ✭✭Dicksboro_man

they asked how much would be full with just the small pipe in one hour, not how long it would take in total so its 12 hours total, 1/12 for one hour

Im talking about Q3 c iii

"It takes 3 hours for the two pipes working together to fill the pool. Find X"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40 daisy17

for the ones everyone seems 2 be talking about!

    Q1 B
    (i)7.6x10^-3
    (ii) B

    Q2
    A. 15
    B. (ii)x=7
    (iii)35%

    Q3 C
    (ii)1/4 + 1/x
(iii) x = 12 they were looking for x, the question just says 'Find x.'

    Q4
0.37 and some negative answer which i put a strike over as it has to be positive

    Q6
    (iii)6x-9x^2

    C(i) x = -1.2 or x = 4
    (ii) t = -0.1 or t = 2.5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 436 ✭✭Meller

Thought maths was easy enough, not saying l did well though... l must have kept on making small mistakes because my answers were always really messed up, crazy decimals and fractions all over the place when l was expecting even numbers...

Did some pretty brainless things tbh, for some reason l didn't think and thought the answer to the question about the cabin should be less men so kept wondering 'why am l getting 15?!!'.
