Mayordennis, it's really none of my business. BUT, what the guy on the other forum did was abusive. I'm the last person to be a boards party-line yes man. I disagree strongly with the ban.

But, it does look bad. It's the kind of thing you post to take a poke at another poster, without really taking responsibility for it. I'm on your side with regard to most things about this. But I think hullabaloo has it spot on by taking the "it was abusive, but not worthy of a ban" line (apologies if I've misinterpreted your stance!).

Juts my opinion, but it's not some kind of mod-opinion. I think it was just a nasty enough thing to post, regardless of whether some els e said it, or whether you think it's true.

That's fair completely fair, my main point here though is that unless you set a rule here you can't expect him to say he did wrong, it's simply moving the goal posts.

Sorry to post again, but it was requested I clarify something.

Just to refute the claim that this was banter or that Helix was just relaying information and not intending to abuse.

Just to point out, I have no problem with these posts.. I don't post there, I don't read there, it is posted about me behind my back and thats ok.

I do have a problem with someone pre-meditating abuse because of my modding and then directing it at me so I'll see it. That is a different game.

But all in all, I complained to the admins and let them decide.

KevIRL: OH FFS. Check this post on boards from Guan Yin.

Event: kev, seriously, boot her from that league
she's a ****ing gimp, end of story

Helix:yeh kev, just ****ing kick her
shes been acting the bollox for too long

in fact, if you dont wanna do it give me the ban hammer for 10 minutes and ill do it

KevIRL:Kicking her out is just letting her win imo.
    Use the press releases

Helix:f*ck it, this is no time to be moral and try to gain ground on her
    just kick her
she'll ban anyone from boards who writes negative press releases about her. theyve done it before for off site stuff

Helix:im debating issuing an official press release calling her a c*nt
    see what happens

Helix:f*ck her, its a private league
ill have a look and see if theres anything expressly said in their terms about personal abuse in private leagues

    Helix: bollox

Helix:yeh you can critisize her, just cant abuse her directly

Event:but type the word as c*nt
actually replace the u with * yourself, then you "technically" didnt call her a cúnt, but a c*nt

Helix:how do yis think thatd go down as an official press release?

    Helix: Posted it

KevIRL:Leave any reference to EP out of it I reckon. There's no reason that anyone need know about an EP link to this

After the ban.... re: complaining about me...
    lol

    i dont think thatll work

but thats not to say i dont have something equally as petty in the works

Could I please ask that anybody who feels the need to post in this thread read back through all of the rest of the thread before posting. An informed post with an opinion is going to be taken a lot more seriously than a bunch of lads banging on a drum shouting their opinions but apparently about a completely separate issue.

Seriously I've not seen one constructive post from you in all the pages I've read of this thread.

If you've got nothing to say then get off your high horse and don't post. Simple as.

the forum.electricpicnic.ie does not have boards.ie in the title, address, or description, as is being argued as the main point for the banning here

Well I didn't want to say anything but reporting it back here was in my opinion something that shouldn't of been done - knowing (from what I can surmise) that this other forum is ok with banter or a certain level of abuse - it was reported to admins here who would throw around the ban stick.

But to the main point GuanYin sadly it's still not addressing the issue people have with this for all I care he can of called you or any other member of boards the worst names under the sun - but it's outside this site and that should be that.

report it to the admins of the other site and have them deal with it - it's not boards.ie's remit to deal with anything from another forum.

I don't think that should have any bearing on another forum either - you make trouble in one particular forum you should get a ban there or site wide - not picking a choosing where the ban will effect the user the most - which is what this boils down to.

Fair enough, but initially this just seemed to be: I've been banned for publishing what others said, which I agreed was most unfair, but now there's all this other stuff that you said yourself. Perhaps it was elsewhere but this is still quite a leap from the original issue.

Theeeeeeenn Guan Yin should complain to Iwe and the technical staff at Xpert Eleven as it would be their jurisdiction, not boards.ie. I've played Xpert Eleven for 4 years and know some of the staff there and play in leagues with them. I do not play in the boards.ie league because I don't have quota. They are perfectly capable of dealing with abuse claims on their own site.

They can dock manager points and hence managers cannot play in leagues based on their quota. They have their own disciplinary procedures relating to their site should they judge the case fairly.

Bottom line: they do not get involved in other sites if the rivalry from the Xpert League causes problems on another site. Previous to this thread I would've thought that the obvious course of events, but now I'm not so sure.

While she may not have banned him directly, taking the problems to the admins resulted in the same thing. If you can't see the connection i advise you to have a re read in case you may have missed something.

I can understand the feeling of needing to do something about it, but surely the posts should have been reported on that site and not boards.

Look if I link to porn which is hosted on a different site and the link is published here in one of my posts, I get banned.

If I use the image tags to display an image which is hosted on another site which is porn in one of my posts, I get banned.

Same principle, there is a precedent.

all right, you put the line where you thought it was best suited. and why would that suit you? well perhaps it has been brought up quite a few times how you are a biased mod and so forth (not saying i think that) and that a blanket on any potential abuse would suit as it means it would make it a lot harder for ppl to rear these complaints. they would think twice and the reputation stays intact. it suits for the line to be put were you please, like it or not.

he may have been in the wrong but the important thing here is zero rules were broken and it didnt happen on boards, in no way should someone be punished even if they are wrong a its not boards related.

yes someone used the name boards.ie league on this other site but from reading this ted it wasnt Helix, and neither he nor GY were i this league and the offensive posts were not made in this league either it was done in Helixs division 2, so m what exactley gives admin from boards the right to ban him? apart from of course the fact that they can ban whoever they want, but surely rules have to be broken first.

That's nonsense and you know it. There's a rule about linking to or posting images of porn on this site. You'll find it in pretty much any charter on the site and probably in the site rules new users agree to when they sign up.

It is explicitly against the rules and a ban would be expected and deserved. I don't think the principle transfers to this situation at all.
