The two aren't related at all. The reason you'd get banned for posting porn here is because the content you post on the forum/boards is in breach of the rules here. Nothing was posted on this forum/site

Fair enough, but initially this just seemed to be: I've been banned for publishing what others said, which I agreed was most unfair, but now there's all this other stuff that you said yourself. Perhaps it was elsewhere but this is still quite a leap from the original issue.

i wasnt banned for the other stuff though was i

i was banned for the post on xpert eleven, and the logic used was that because it had the boards.ie name unofficially attached it fell under boards.ie's jurisdiction

the other stuff doesnt come into play at all, unless i was banned for posts on electricpicnic.ie, which again begs the same questions

So you admit that it was cowardly abuse and using that site to abuse a boards mod without getting sanctioned for it?

yes, he had something equally petty for GuanYin lined up.
that was posted on another site and then posted here by guanyin. guanyin is calling Helix petty by result? i dunno.... where does the line on these things go again?

So now there is a precedent when Hullabaloo said there wasn't, and GY did complain when it was said she had nothing to do with it? making it up as we go along are we?.

Sweet Loki buggering Thor why do you have to stoop to personal abuse to begin with, seriously, go out and kick a kitten rather then getting your knickers in a not like a 7 year old in the school yard and then writing rude things on the wall on the way home from school where you now the other kid will see it.

thatd probably have gotten me a ban too, after all its about as relevant to boards as the electric picnic forum

Thaed and I are different people. We have different thoughts. I don't think there's anything like a precedent here. Maybe that's because I'm an Irish lawyer, and we don't really believe in precedents, or maybe it's because I genuinely believe that every case should be taken on it's own merits.

It comes down to the fact that Helix was prepared to attack a member of this site through an affiliated off-site league. Reading GY's post and links (which I seriously doubt most of you dissenters have), I've concluded that it was orchestrated and deliberated. As such, being an affiliated league, there's nothing that makes this ban unfair from the outset. What might make it unfair is that it's permanent. But, I've already stated that I'd like to see that stepped back. However, I do have a problem with what I've seen from Helix in response to this. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that there was vitriol and kick-back in his post on that site. The fact that he's continually denied that they're his comments is cowardice to the extreme, in my mind.

I actually had to double check my calendar to make sure we weren't back in April 1st.

I am quickly falling into the opinion that the posts should have been reported on the other forum and left to be dealt with there. If boards wanted to they could always end discussion of the site here if they felt that was best.

Funny cos schools will suspend/expel/ban kids for that as it is seen as bullying another pupil even with it being not on school property.
Soccer posters needing to be treated like school kids shocker.

You are not in any way taking in what people are saying.
You saying it's affiliated does not make it so, firstly.
Then there is no rule that's affiliation with another site is room for a problem - we're going in circles but it's on the admin team tbh if you cannot so much as listen to what people are having a gripe with then the site is well and truely shagged.

if we want to get technical here, it wasnt officially affiliated. someone put the name in the title of the top division completely without permission. the league im in didnt have boards.ie in the league name. therefore is it an affiliated site?

My school suspended someone for dying his hair bright red. Some students also got detention for smoking. I don't really think comparing boards to a school is a valid comparison.

and maybe the other kid shouldnt have been such a douche in school in the first place?
it all comes down to ppls ability to not take their licks (on both sides)

I'd actually agree with this after reading all comments. Both parties have acted childishly but as ShooterSF said it should have been dealt with on the other sites.

You know that really comes across as trying to belittle the opinion of those who disagree with you when your last post was seen as wrong by many rather than saying ok bad example, blah blah etc.

There is a GuanYin on xperteleven.
Boards.ie Xpert Eleven FA vice-chairman H3lx has responded to reports in certain media outlets that calls have been made for the enforced sacking of Congress Blitz manager GuanYin.

Nowhere in the post that was made on that forum is there anything saying that this person is a soccer forum moderator. Nowhere does it say that this is about a person on boards.ie soccer forum. The post is regarding the Congress Blitz Manager whose mane is GuanYin.

How do you know for certain that this H3lix is the same Helix who is a member of boards.ie? Or how did you know?

Completely agree. Helix knew what he was doing and did so on another site in no way affiliated with boards.ie at all and in no breach of any rules set down by boards.ie

Worst excuse of a ban IMO. Fair enough feelings might have been hurt but it's human nature to dislike people and say things about people.... Even on the internet. I mean I dislike orestes. :)

The soccer forum is more damn trouble than it's worth, the users have proven time and time again they can't be civil (even after the access requests system was brought in cos the place was a hell hole) and the mods constantly get more shit than any volunteer should have to deal with. Just delete the place, it's beyond salvation

That's both insulting to anyone who seriously posts there including mods such as Xavi6 LL etc and an opinion from someone who doesn't even contribute much.
Personally im not a massive poster but read plenty of soccer threads (Arsenal thread being the first always;) ) so i certainly feel there's no reason to shut it down.
I don't post in the Paranormal forum and personally don't believe in it however it doesn't affect me in the slightest whether its running or not.

I personally think there's a broader issue at play here.

I read the soccer forum a lot, though I don't have access. But I think I have a feel for the place.

What has always struck me in there is the uneasy relationship the mods have with the users, and vice versa. There's no mutual respect.

The mods don't seem to like a lot of the users, and the users seem to dislike a lot of the mods. It's like a school in there.

People post random things about how the soccer forum users are idiots. I don't think that's true. I think some of the trouble is caused by people being like soccer fans. I know when I'm at a Sunderland game, I'll join in the chants about Alan Shearer having AIDS. But I wouldn't usually be an abusive guy. I think it's the nature of soccer. People who don't support a team may say it's no excuse. But those of us who love soccer will know what I'm talking about.

But a lot of the problems stem from the users having no respect for the mods, and the dictatorial way the place seems to be run. Rules are laid down, and you accept them or get banned. There doesn't *seem* to be much engagement with the users.

Now, I know that may seem a bit irrelevant to the price of cabbage in Cambodia. But the point I'm making is that none of this would have happened if the mods and users had a mutual respect for each other. Most forums have a moderator that the punters like, and respect. And usually, things can be sorted out by a PM or a friendly word. Most forums would never had these problems arise in the first place.

All I'm saying is that sometimes you need to start from the bottom up, and just make sure everyone is cool with what's going on in a general sense.

This is the most interesting and revealing post in this pretty damn interesting thread imo.

There is an undercurrent of dislike and unhappiness prevalent in the soccer forum. it is time to seriously take a hard look at how the forum is run (ie - in a dictorial manner). The mods are doing their jobs to the very best of their abilities and i understand that it is probably the most difficult forum to manaage in terms of squabbling and petty name calling etc. However there is a problem there and it needs to be addressed rather than swept under the carpet.

FWIW I disagree with this ruling/precedent/ban. Its none of boards business what happens on other sites. If i say : "RonJOnes (imaginary manager in my imaginary Xpert 11 league) is a prick who cheats on his wife with a nineteen year old boy etc..." i don't expect to be banned by Xpert 11(or whatever its called). It is dangerous ground that boards are treading with this ruling and to a neutral observer it looks like personal dislike of Helix may have clouded certain people's judgement.my 2cents anyway

Seriously? You're still flip-flopping around the issue. it's like your backed into a corner and have to come up with something new every 30 seconds as it becomes more and more apparent that you're wrong.
As much as I'm defending Helix I can accept he was being mean, but that's it - he was being mean (not abusive) on a different forum - as we are not children in school being mean is not a punishable offence and certainly not being punished by an in correct authority.

Me thinks it is thee who should consider some schooling.
