So how does this poll thing work ?

Zero here (so far).

I generally am not a speed freak but I would be lying if I said I never drive above the speed limit. I think having no penalty points so far is really a combination of the fact that there are very little fixed speed cameras down this neck of the woods at the moment and maybe some good fortune.

Dangerous overtaking almost 3 years ago and speeding on a motorway that i got last week.

I heard that the origional 2 will now stay on my licence untill the most recent two have expired.

Is this correct? Can anyone confirm?

Any points received stay on your licence for 3 years from the date they were first applied regardless of any new ones you refeive in the interim!

I used to have 6. Its now down to 4. These 4 would expire in about six months I think.

4, all for speeding, all gotten within two weeks of eachother. First 2 I got on the big downhill coming into Baltinglass from the Tullow side, second 2 were at the bottom of the Ballinascorney Rd coming from the Old Mill direction.

Thats not correct.

The first 2 expire after the 3 years period and the fresh 2 will expire in 3 years time. They are not related.

I had 2 points (Apr. 05) then I got another 2 (Jan. 07) so I had 4 at one stage.

The points from Apr 05 are gone and I will have the Jan 07 points until early next year.

I think i may have been speed gunned coming back from cork on sunday, was doing about 125/128 kph in a 120. whats that 2 points and a fine?

An indicated 128 is probably not even over the limit, I wouldn't worry.

I turned at a junction only to be pulled in by garda who already had someone pulled in. He told me there was no right turn at the junction...between 9am and noon :rolleyes:.. fine plus a penalty point....he pulled in two more as I left

Returned next day and saw there was a nice new sign up alright...I have a feeling it was the first day of peration and I'd say he pulled in loads

Never had any points. I guess a combination of luck and observation. And I typically speed most on quiet / empty motorways, so little chance of getting caught there.

Just the one, turning left onto Nutley Lane just past RTE one morning (no turn between 7am and 10am). In fairness I had been using that illeagal shortcut for three years, you'd normally be able to spot them prior to turning but got stung the day the garda hid in a driveway.

Have 4 - 2 different speeding offences.

2 should be gone by September I think, only have the other 2 for the last few weeks so they'll be here for some time yet.
