Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My central locking not working in the heat...

The central locking in my 04 Mazda3 has been acting up in the nice weather. When I lock with the keyfob all is ok. When I lock with the key all is OK. When I unlock with the keyfob, the indicators flash as normal but nothing happens with the actual locks. When I unlock with the key, only the driver's door unlocks.

No problem about 2 or 3 hours after the sun goes down and until about midday the following day when the heat starts back up.

It's an odd issue for sure. A friend of mine said he has heard of similar issues with sunroofs in the heat but never with central locking.

Anyone come across anything like this?

A search of the mazda 3 owners forum didnt reveal anybody else having this problem!

When you lock/unlock it, does the car try to lock/unlock the doors and fail (ie is there the sound of the parts moving) or is there nothing at all happening?

I would suggest a bit of wd40 on the door locks, they could be fairly dry with the heat. ;)

Except that mines a mondeo, central locking acting strange as hell. Also, car stereo just stops working for no reason, all since the hot weather started last friday??

This is a common problem on BMW E46's and is linked to a defective ZKE module (GM V). The problem arises with the crap relays used in the mudule that tend to burn out....and as the relays are soldered to the board it requires a replacement module @ ~€350.
From my understanding this problem affects VAG motors too and it's possible that certain Mazdas have this issue too?

Think this was a problem on the Focus too?

Yes it is. The door latch gets sticky and doesn't snap back properly. The solution is WD40.
