DVD Recorder - Possibly Hard Drive

    Folks ,
Time has come to replace the Tevion DVD Recorder and i'm gonna go for a bit better quality this time. I'll settle for a External disk recorder (DVD R's and the like ) but might push to a built in hard drive one if reasonable enough.

Can anyone recommend any bargains in such machines at the minute in either bricks and mortar or internet world ?

Ideally I'd like not to be spending more than €200 on the machine.

Any recommendations on machines whether bargain or not also greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I've come across this machine as a possible solution and was wondering has anyone here used one of them and how do they find them.

Currys and Powercity have some great deals at the mo.
160 GB HD ones for €150 and under.
can't recall the makes/models off hand so you'll have to get in and browse yourself.

mind you, that pixmania one looks tempting. Some comments on it here

Thanks for that alastair, called my local store in Galway, none in stock !!

I called into DID in Galway yesterday and saw a Sony DVD recorder with 160GB HD for €139.99, I should have bought it. I called them this morning to check the model number cause I wanted to check out some reviews on it and the guy told me the only Sony with 160GB HD was €269 !! Now I know I wasn't seeing things and even spoke to 2 sales guy about same who agreed that it was a great price for Sony machine. I don't know what went on between when I left the store and when I called. I'm gonna call again this evening and see if I locate the dude I was talking to yesterday.

I've just ordered Samsung DVD-HR777 DVD Player/Recorder from Pixmania for €210.09 inc vat & del. Hope I'm not one of the unlucky ones dealing with Pixmania. Seems the best available right now and I haven't any dvd player or recorder so bit the bullet.
