Depends what you mean by fancy... but "along the lines of Ballymaloe and Longueville House" I suppose you could try Flemings in Tivoli - http://www.flemingsrestaurant.ie/
Don't know if they're open on Mondays.

    Also Hayfield Manor.

Yeah I'd go for the hayfield manor.
Stayed there before and had dinner in the "Fine Dining" restaurant (Think it's called perriots)
The food and service was superb, excellent staff and very knowledgeable about the food and wine

    +1 for Hayfield.

Food and service in their formal restaurant was amongst the best I've had in Cork in five years.

Thanks guys, I made a booking with Hayfield and they sent me a contract. All I wanted to do was book a restaurant for a graduation and they are sending out contracts for it....

Thats odd. Crossed wires maybe? The times I've stayed and eaten there, the management couldn't do enough and in a quiet, very efficient way, so I didn't think 'red tape' was their thang. A telephone call might resolve and it'd be worth it :)

I queried it, for all reservations made for the week of the graduations in UCC, a contract must be signed between Hayfield Manor and the "guests". It is basically saying that you will come on the time and date that you booked it for. If you are more than 15 mins late your table will be given away. If you cancel within 8 & 14 days of the booking you will be charged 10 per head, cancel between 1 and 7 days you will be charged 50% of the expected bill and if cancel on the day you will be charged 100% of the expected bill. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing.

I have eaten there before and I have to say that it is excellent, the food, the service, the facilities. I would recommend it to everyone. But I cant help but think that I am being treated like a child....

Makes sense I guess. They are trying to guarantee that they are not left with empty tables because people don't turn up during one of their busiest weeks of the year. all seems a bit complicated just for booking a meal but in the boards.ie attitude to life, if ya don't like it, don't partake.

i thought hayfield manor was only ok tbh.

Best food in cork imo is Cafe Paridiso (and I'm not vegetarian).

Possibly.....if you're an anorexic rabbit, on hunger strike, with major self hatred issues.......IMO......:D Few places seem to divide like this place.
    Consistent, it ain't!

This seems abit much to be honest ..signing a contract to book dinner -a bit ridiculous imo

You need to engage the services of a solicitor to stay there! :D:D:D

Seriously though it is a nice place the eat. I can understand the idea behind what they are trying to do with the contracts. I don't condone it or agree with it.

Didnt sign the contract and cancelled the provisional booking. Found the whole thing to be very off-putting. Hayfield will sell out with no trouble for the entire graduation week. It is a great place and deserves its brilliant reputation but I didnt like the idea of having to sign a "contract" in order to book a table at a restaurant for 1 meal.

How about Casino House in Killbrittain? They have no website but they have a great reputation! Was there once and found it excellent!! Its a wonderful setting also!
