Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lost masterminds Carlton Cuse and Damen Lindelof dop hints about how ABC hit drama will end

    Jun 2 2009

Lost masterminds Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have been dropping hints about how the show will end next spring.

Among the mysteries unravelled in the very last episode will be the significance of the four-toed statue, what the Smoke Monster really is and who the skeletons in the cave were.

Says Cuse: "The end of the show will be a combination of trying to answer mysteries the audience still cares about, such as the statue and the Smoke Monster.

"We'll also be answering the skeletons in the cave question. We will answer the questions we feel are important and central to the plot.

"At the same time we will be trying to tell redemption stories about the characters. These characters do indeed have a destiny.

    Disappointment is on the horizon...

That line, "...we feel are important and central to the plot", is gonna be there excuse for not explaining a load of things I bet.

They are just covering themselves. There's a s**t load of Trekkie-convention-type questions that aren't important or were never mysteries in the first place (such as the "Hurley bird" or the "magic box") but the fans will moan about in the end. There's also stuff like Libby that they can't answer.

Provided the answers come quick and steady, I see no reason why they can't wrap up everything in 17 episodes. My main fear however is that will hold back on the drama and budget in an attempt to try and make the series finale "cinematic" and "epic". It never ceases to amaze me how television writers fall prey to type of thinking. They spend 4+ years writing serialised character-driven episodes and then in the last episode decide to try and make a 2-hour special effect movie. The results are always disastrous.

Finale will be excellent, well worth the wait. Season 5's was brilliant and next season's will be even better! Don't give up hope with Lost!
