    hey im 29 and have been thinking about emmigrating to america. im a secondary teacher and would like to teach in america. im so confused at how to do this. i have searched the internet but found no answers. any advice

    I don't know much about short-term US visas (J1 and such), but long term (emmigration) visas are very difficult to get.

    Basically in the US, the only way to emmigrate long-term is to have an employer sponsor you (good luck in this economy), or a close relative. If the Irish are still allowed to join the Green Card lottery that would be your best bet.

    Canada is much easier to emmigrate to. You don't need a sponsor and they use the points system. You'll probably get a few points for your occupation, age, and that you speak English.

    Secondary teacher? Forget California for the present. They are issuing notices by the thousands to lay off teachers due to the economic meltdown.
