I thought they deserved a thread of their own. I am completely addicted to them, there I said it. Nothing goes better with a cup of tea (well maybe caramel rocky's but you can't get them out here). There are many variations but the original ones are by far the nicest.

Post here if you want to join TTA (Tim Tams Anonymous). There must be a 12 step programme out there somewhere to get you off them!

yay Tim-Tams! quality snacking. Picked up a box in Dunnes in Galway today on account of having a Kiwi visiting us for the weekend, doubt he'll prefer the combination of Barrys tea and Tim-Tam Original to a few tasty Guinness but they are a serious biscuit. Better than Penguins. More chocolately and don't have that weird greasy feeling on them either.

the honeycomb ones are good... very good.. addictively good.

I used to get by on Penguins when living in Dublin though. They're similar enough.

    I think they are horrible.

It's all about chocolate scotch fingers...cheap as chips aswell.
I think TimTams are more of an upper class snack and less of a backpackers

they're absolutely amazing. especially the caramel ones.

Nah, I'm not in to them much. They're like penguin bars that are trying to hard.

Arnotts do another amazing butterscoth crunch biscuit. They're big chunky cookies with chocolate on top. I'm addicted to those.

    /goes to open a packet

No substitute for penguin bars, but they'll do for now.

Does anyone do the Tim-Tam slammer? I'm a bif of a fan of that as well.

Tim Tams are good but I agree with the caramel rocky thought more.

BTW you can get cramel rockies over there. I got them in Melbourne at the treats from home shop on a shoping centre on Collins street in the CBD. it went great with the cup of lyons tea using the tea bags i got from there also.

I cant see the penguin/tim tam argument. They are totally different. Similar in how they are put together but apart from that I cant compare the two. One is meant to be a dry biscuit with substandard chocolate, the other is a Tim-Tam.

As you can see, I dont lean to one side nor the other.

Tim Tams are brilliant, especially doing that thing with a cup of tea, it just dosent work with penguin bars.

and there is an Arnots factory just up the road from where I work, OOOOOOH the smell is absolutley divine wwhenever I drive past.

it's all in how you eat them and with what drink, if you bite a little off both ends of the opposite corners then use the TT as a straw and suck the drink (try milo,) through the thing and eat it, divine for choco lovers
