    Hey lads,

Just finished a new track titled "Koyo". Very different from my usual stuff so any suggestions on what genre to class it as would be much appreciated as is any feedback on the track itself. Have a listen and let me know what ye think! Cheers.

    http://soundcloud.com/cloud-10/koyo

The piano sound is really good. And the drums sound really good. Just a personal taste thing; I don't like that synth pad (It sounds like a 5th). Some people really like that sound some don't - I don't - I just don't - I think I had overdose of that 5th somewhere. You don't hear much guitar on dance records. I think it's because dance guys have a pathological hatred of guitars.

You could file it under progressive. Which means absolutely nothing.

The arrangement? Do intend to move the outro in front of the synth pad at the start so DJ will have something mix in on?

yeah. i think soundcloud has become a victim of it's own success lately. things going wrong all over the place and loads of features coming and going...

been away for a while so i've a lot of catching up to do with all the new music posted, so i'm looking forward to that. in the meantime, i'll inflict a new track on you all, called hazy winter day. it's a roughly cobbled together track...

    Good stuff,

:) with the noise in the tune it makes me feel like i'm listening to an old acid techno cassette tape from the 90's...total flashback....it's great

    It's gagging for a 303 :)

Yeah Soundcloud has been balls lately for trying to upload and listen. The second link worked for me btw

I have remixed an RSAG track. Would appreciate feedback y'all.

    www.myspace.com/vforces

took a while for it to kick in but cool track. the build up to the vocal part is just a teensy bit... repetitive... i guess is the right word but the overall sound is solid. once the vocals kick in there's a noticeable lift in the track. nicely polished piece.

'wonder' is a great little track.

thoroughly enjoyed 'inversion'. nicely layered sounds.

interesting stuff. as Dave mentions it's screaming for a 303 squelch in there. or maybe two! i just wish the synths were higher up in the mix. when they comes in it's really sweet.

That's a very nice track. Very chilled. I love the bass line, rock steady.

I'd like to hear this with the guitar and piano dropped down an octave, they sound very high to me.

    Cheers.

Just uploaded my second track, would love some input on it. It's a remix of a track that has a remix contest out, so I grabbed the stems too see if I'd like like them.

Also wouldn't mind input on the other track on the soundcloud too!

Thanks a lot my good man, yeah the general sentiment I have been getting about that remix is essentially what you're saying - a touch too repetitve and the break takes too long.

Glad you liked Wonder - that was a surprise hit with my mates as well, it really was me just playing around and I went for some odd-sounding boards of canada style chords towards the end. I like Inversion as well but I think commercial wise it's not really saleable, like you probably wouldn't play it in a club.

I like it. I've listened to a few times - I like it - but it needs some stuff

Do you want me to post here or on your sound cloud?

I've got a new "piece" up - but the coolest thing about it is the photo (I've borrowed from friend - what she doesn't know can't hurt her - and it's not like I'm going to go biezb 800% on her)

Going to have to pack in moderation soon - running out of time these days!

Would rather get involved more with commenting via SC and helping out more rather than spending my mornings banning mobile phone spam!

Anyways, here's what happens when you take a hammer to some chillout.

The vox is East Wests Voice of Passion VST, warning though - most of it is complete pap.... takes ages to get vocal phrases to sound connected!

I made a really clutzy mistake recording it - managing to catch a lot of noise. Maybe the noise makes it sound more authentic. Some of the Claps sound better for it.

Great track man !!! Sounds really raw.

    Loving the drums !!!

I like it. But you could add a few samples of things like party voices over the break down. You could make very subtle changes to the bass line. Add a few extra sounds here and there to raise and drop tension - a few surprises and odd bits. Have little bits going on here and there. Don't go into overkill.

Don't go into overkill - just like I have here. http://soundcloud.com/the-noobian-prince/the-noobian-prince-maxes-on-the-minimal

Yes....it does have Homer Simpson samples - So much for these "royalty free" sample companies.

The Noobian Prince - goes Maximum on the Minimal - gets completely lost and creates a new genre of Intelligent Dub Minimal.

    http://soundcloud.com/the-noobian-prince/the-noobian-prince-maxes-on-the-minimal

I'm going to have to take it down and put it back up again. Sound Cloud normalises to the highest peek it can find. I'm using goldwave to do my mastering. My "mastering" technique is to hard limit the spikes out then up the volume. For some reason, sometimes single spikes make it through and when Soundcloud sees a spike it normalises the volume of it's file to the spike - Is there a way around this - How can I be absolutely sure there's no spikes - The graphic window in Goldwave doesn't always show if there is a spike.

? That was a question - if anyone's got the answer.

I am no one to give you advice - your production skills are second to none.

    But

That might be a problem - it's too perfect. Jesus, I wish I could do that stuff - but I think it needs a little dirt; a little offness. Like Stradvarius; the violin maker. He was a master violin maker - who could make the absolute perfect violin. He made a few hundred - what sets each aside from violins made by the other countless master violin makers, was that he put a very deliberate mistake into each one. The master violin player, when they play a Strad, has to struggle against flaw - they're not going to win - the result isn't perfect. And that's the whole point. The Strad performance is more beautiful because it has the flaws and imperfections of the natural and human world built into it.

Hope you're getting on a run of inspiration - knock us dead. Knock us ****ing dead.

Hehe, now that's weird - i usually leave flaws in there (to stop procrastination when writing) - and to me there is a HUGE error in that track ;) - the second part of the main lead/arpeggio is a whole 16th out and makes the second part sound like it's going backwards ;)

All this music (i hope) would get remixed by someone who's more into trends - i just make the progression and can't really get stuff to ever sound totally 'current'

Also, not spending more than a hour on progression and construction (and the frills) as it's a case of make hay while the sun shines ;)

    Cheers for listening.

Reuploaded a track I posted on here a while ago (but didn't get any feedback on) and changed a good few things. I'd love input on the production values of it, because I'm still only getting into production.

It's a house (vaguely) remix of an indie track which has a remix contest. Only two or three of the sounds are from the original track though.

Let me know what you guys think!

Sounds ok, i can't comment though as it's a competition entry ;) - if you want a 'fundamentals' check up, then post something recent that you usually make :)

I didn't make it to enter the competition, just got the stems to see if they inspired me at all. There's another track on the Soundcloud there, it's also a remix, more original parts in it though.

Can you stick up something you've hand made? - it's the only way I can really give anything constructive as an opinion - it would show what you spectrum of skills are (including weaknesses).

For remixes, the DJ forum might help more with feedback on that front (as they hear way more)

This is only my opinion though, just my way of working out where a person is on a 'ladder of learning'

Everything I've handmade is still at the 80% finished stage, I find it much harder to be happy with them than tracks using more sampled sounds. Hopefully I'll have something up soon though. Hang on, I'll have a look and see if anything's worth throwing up anyway.

Edit: Here's what I'm working on at the moment. Only partly finished. All advice welcome!
