Yeah, I really like the bassline as well. The only thing is that it's a bit samey for such a long track. I think you could do with adding some more elements to keep interest in the track.

Ya i was thinking and a couple people said the same thing.. Its still not 100% but its getting there. Ya ill defo add more to it..

not bad dude.. sounds a bit harsh on the higher end though.. could also do with a bit more on the low to mid range. tip: eq all your tracks/samples individually and work towards the sound you're looking for.. also a spectrum display on the master should give you some idea of where youre pushing the gain too far.

    here's a track i threw together a while back..
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/166008/random%20memory.mp3

i know its kind of repetitive.. i was just layin the elements down.. must open it up to tweak it out properly one of these days!

Hey man. Yeah the added riser adds to the track alright but it's automated kinda funny in that it builds very quickly and then nothing happens, then it dips and rises again and then the break. Personally I'd simplify it into a straigt riser with a volume envelope. I still think you could do with a more pronounced hi hat as well though :D
When the tracks starts I immediatelty think of Eric Pryz - Pjanoo (is that good or bad ? ;))

Any chance you'd stick it on Soundcloud?

Cheers man. Yeah I get what you're saying about the riser, I had a few other loops I could have chose but I went with that one. Seemed better than any others I had.
Hahaa when I was actually making that track I was listening to Pjanoo. Pryda, I dno how he does it!

Nice one mate. Yeah I'm still kind of just getting in to 'mastering' properly. I don't have the best speakers, so It's hard to hear a lot of those flaws!

Had a listen to your track, it's pretty good man. Tweak it up and see what happens!

You should try and make your own riser effects. Its good practice for getting to know more about your DAW and you have more control over the finished article.

Don't want to get into a back-slapping competition, but, some of your stuff is, genuinely, top-notch.

    I'm just a genuine(using CD samples) novice.

I think your competent production skills are obvious - not too enthusiastic about the song choice.

Am I a judge on some TV show?

@mordeith - Thanks for the advice man! :D

@blackben - All feedback is good so cheers! Also just had a listen to the track you're currently working on, it actually sounds very nice and works well for me but I think there's a bit to much going on with the drums in my opinion. Just remove them and see how it sounds without them or replace them with bongos and throw in some light shakers? I think there's something worth doing to that track so continue working on it!

"Honesty is, always, the best policy." << Agreed. ;)

Thanks very much for feedback - much appreciated.

Threw in a Maximus to see how it sounded. (Hence the massive bass/drum sound)

I'm a big revolving bass fan! (Retro)

Thanks again, and best of luck in your endeavours!

I just tried that and it sounds rather anonymous - I think my ears are just used to the Maximus at this stage. I'll have a listen to the bongo and shaker version tomorrow morning with fresh ears.

    Thanks again, WasterEx.:)

nice track man! just personal opinion but id probably only use the vocal sample for the intro and then drop it completely.. definitely some room for a break and some build ups in the track.. introduce some new elements etc. youll have a winner :)

    I listened to yours - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/166008/random%20memory.mp3.

Not my taste, but, a very accomplished and complex production.

Could you, or someone else, tell me about this taxing DubStep transgression?(or progression, as the case maybe)

I just don't get it, unfortunately.

Tbf, it's a pretty broad church at the moment which stretches from the numpty nu metal posturing of Skrillex and brostep to the introspective work of the likes of Burial's work. Also what is happening now is that a lot of producers that were influenced by dubstep are merging it with house and techno and creating interesting hybrids. It's all flying under the banner of 'bass music' but that is probably going to change. Here's some tunes that I'd call good quality dubstep and bass music.

If you're coming from a housey frame of mind, check out the likes of George Fitzgerald, Joy Orbison and Midland and labels like Hotflush, Applepips, Aus and Hemlock. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

    Hey lads,

Doing a remix of Lana Del Ray - Video Games.

Just uploaded a really short preview of the track on soundcloud, do the vocals seem to loud in the mix? I've adjusted to well to it to be able to judge correctley, it's on private so here's the link:

    http://soundcloud.com/cremerz/cremerz-video-game-vocal-mix/s-UJ6nw

If anyone's up for it, let me know what you think :D

Actually not even sure if the vocals even suit the track either so I might just scrap them.

They're not sitting on the track properly. I think they're too sultry a vocal for the track you've produced.

I had another listen to the track earlier after i gave my ears some peace and quite, mmm..wasn't happy at all so I trashed the vocals, you were right.
Sounding nicer without them now anyway :)

    Thanks

As sensitive and responsive as I am, I still don't get it.

I mean compared to this middle-of-the-road monotonous DeepHouse track - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zc28z_OVTo - it sounds positively sterile.:(
