I started playing Vice City again and forgot how good it was, so I
thought I'd have a go at remixing a band from this decade in Vice City style.

That's deadly. Way more fun than the original. Kind of reminds me of kissy sell out.

Thought I was going to hate this after the first couple of seconds because of the piano sound at the start. Not mad about that but the rest of the track is deadly. really laid back and kind of dream poppy. really good stuff

Did this track last week and posted it up here but wasn't happy with so just after redoing it. Anyways, I'd be interested in getting some feedback on it from ye

And I actually think that piano thing at the start is something that's gonna grow on me after a while. One of those things that's slightly jarring at first but get's catchier over time. Also, love the video for it.

Haha thanks :) Means a lot
My thinking there was to have the harsher sound to contrast the softness wihch comes after :P I like the way It sounds in mixes too :O

How's it going everyone. Haven't put one up in a while so here's one that's been sitting in the background for a bit that I finished a draft of this evening. Let us know what you think.

How's it going? Had another listen to this this morning. It's really well mixed. Only thing I'd change is that I'd get a crisper splash sample and not use it as much. Apart from that it's deadly. I like the way the vocal sample blends in with the whole thing and doesn't overpower it

That's brilliant. The style of music goes really well with the vocal. I've also got quite a fondness for TDCC.

    Any chance of a d/l?

Nice industrial sound to this. (reminded me of the old pc game of the same name!)
The kick could maybe do a little more presence. The clap is a bit weak sounding for my liking. Maybe layer it with something else might strengthen it a bit. I like the overall feel to the track but I think the grainy synth that comes in at 1.56 lets it down a bit. Not sure exactly what I would change about it exactly but it just doesn't quiet live up to the brooding start of the track. You're onto something good though.

Unlike another poster I think the kick gets lost slightly in the main part of the track. I woudn't be a massive fan of the main synth line to be honest. Seems a bit too light on the lower frequencys to give it a bit of oomph. Well done for getting your work out there though.

Great bassline. Really gives a nice bit of movement to the track. Nice use of the old skool 'pong' hit as well. I think the crash is a little bit short, maybe could use a extra bit of reverb. I'm not a massive fan of the kind of 8-bit jittery sounds. They seem to just sit out a little too much from the rest of the track.
Like the 303-style melody that fades in every now and then, although personally I would probably add a bit of distortion to it just to give it a bit more menace. Nice lush pads as well.

Cheers for all the feedback. I had another go at the track, stripping out the 8 bit sound, playing around with the pads, etc. Here's the updated track.

To be fair there is a lot of jumping between various arrangements here. I reckon you should concentrate on building a track around the piece that goes from 0.40 to 1.01 (this plays again towards the end of the track). The bassline in this is really cool and the whole sound suits the vocal.

I liked the pad intro and the drum pattern but the kick itself sounds kind of faded. The waveform is very full. Did you use a lot of compression on the track?

I reckon this is an improvement on the previous version. Nice and full sounding. At one stage 'Trainspotting' popped into my head. I reckon that's a good endorsement as that's an epic soundtrack. :)

That's pretty sweet. The rapper is excellent IMO. Got a 'Galvanise' vibe of the whole thing. There was something not quite right about the kick though. Sounds like there was a weird flucuation in the bass/synth line. Is it sidechained? Could be a limiter kicking in maybe?

this is abit different, because i use a sample of a percussion track a friend made and made it my own. the inital 1 min is the original (+ some enhancement) then i mix it up from there, slow moving piece. more ambient than anything

Okay so it’s been ages since I made anything so I thought I’ddo a remix of a local band called The Trampz(Check them out, there deadly)

I really only used the chorus and put effected the vox but Ithink it turned out okay.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers for the feedback, really appreciate it. I didn't use a lot of compression, I had a limiter on the kick but it was making it sound too weak, I wanted to get the kick nice and punchy but I really don't know what I'm doing, in still tinkering around with it in ableton

really nice track, polished production. the only thing i noticed is the kick is too low.can't feel it even with bass boost on my amp. imo it should be the loudest thing in the whole mix.

Lovely treatment on the vocals. Nice house number (which I'm not a huge fan of). Very nicely produced. Only thing I think could do with a tweak is the noise riser, it's a bit reedy. Otherwise very cool.

Thanks man,I think I know what you mean by reedy alright.
Ill give it a little tweak and hopefully get it sounding better.
    Cheers for the listen

Really nice rolling bassline which gives a nice grove to the track. The hi hat is panned a bit too far right for my liking. This is offset though by the secondary hat at 1.32. I was suprised by the piano as it seemed a bit of a gentle sound for the harder drums and bass. However it does eld together nicely as the track develeops. I was wondering if you have some kind of LFO on the main pads that fade in from 0.35? Just seems like the volume is ducking quite a bit on them.
    Nice work overall. Real punchy.
