So i recently started working with the brother again, but being 2 hours away from each other we don't get to work together as often as i'd like, but anyway, a mix we done of Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines about a month ago:

    https://soundcloud.com/h-s-t-b-bob/oddballs-house-remix-robin

Not my bag style wise but it's a good job for that genre. I like the bass riff using the 'donk' :)
Could maybe do with a bit more punch on the kick perhaps.

needs more punch in the kick and the snare too maybe
or just a stronger sense of bass

Agree. The kick gets a bit lost when the main snyth is playing. I think the snare just need to have the high frequencies boosted a bit to make it pop a bit more in the mix.

The What is Love mashup doesn't work for me. The piano notes sound out of time with the What is Love sample and just doesn't sit well together.

My Music Electronic is really kicking at 1.33. Love the chopped vocals. Would have loved to hear a big kick come in though. The kick that you have is a bit weak for me and you could benfit from eq'ing the hi hat and snare to bring them out more in the mix.

Fantastic bassline. Has the hallmaks of a really good minimal house track. I was a bit dissappointed by the main arpeggiated synth though, I feel it's a bit too thin sounding for the track. Having said that it sounds much better at 2.25.
Nice vocal samples as well. Thumbs up overall.

Cheers Mordeith. Thanks for taking the time to listen and reply.

New track here, from the album currently being worked on. Sort of one of those "build up" songs, as in, the majority of time is spent on the build up, rather than the main part, which is shorter by comparison.

A bit like travel itself. Hence the title.

Funny thing is, this track started off slightly different, there was another "main part", but I found I liked the build up more so I hived off the other part and ended up making a new track from it - which I will post in the next few days.

Its a nice ambient-y chilled track. BTW if anyone can think of a classification for this music, let me know! :-)

This album is nearly finished, and when it is I'll post the whole lot together.

intro sounds like the beginning of a jazz gig.... sooo electro-jazz fusion?

sounds more like funk jazz than electro....kinda like miles davis's witches bre but not as heavy....more like the doors but without the darkness......something 70's based anyways

nice track :) reminds me of something youd get on a b-side of a doors style album anyways

Thank you, I guess it is quite "fusion-y"... I suppose the electric piano is a bit "Riders On The Storm", but I also think it has a Floyd / Dark Side Of The Moon element to it as well... I was referencing "On The Run" with both the title and the shakers / hi hats.

    Thanks for the feedback Shane!

Alt-J remix I put together. I'm relatively new to production but thought why not.

Nice flow to this. The clap is a litle dry for me given the more lush sounds of the organ/piano stabs and the rolling bassline. Nice vocal snippets throughout especially the female one.

Again great use of vocal samples. I like the bassline but I don't think the asian style guitar pluck works too well to be honest. Nice little arpeggiation that comes in at around 2.00. Track could do with a bit of eq to boost the high frequencies of the hi-hat I think. Sounds a bit lost in the mix.

This is what I'd refer to as a soundscape :) Well put together but not something I'd find easy to listen to in isolation. Would work really well with a nicely produced video of abstact scenes.

That bassline is class. The hi-hat is a tad high for me but that's a minor gripe. I think the kick could do with a bit more presence, maybe a little more compression if you haven't already some on. I think you should maybe consider fading out the tail a little as well on the kick as it has quite a click at the end but again not a major issue really. Nice job.

A bit of downtempo techno (ish) effort.
    https://soundcloud.com/subbed/stasis

Just noticed the volume ducking all over the place on the soundcloud version  Plays fine on my laptop, hi-fi, phone etc. Might try and upload the wav file tomorrow to see if it make a difference. People might let me know if they hear the same issue.

soundcloud does that to my tracks aswell sometimes, messes them up. i think re-uploading usually fixes the problem...or adjusting the volume then upload ot soundcloud....ill have a listen to it later when i have headphones :)

I uploaded the wav file but it made no difference. I'll lower the master volume like you suggest and re upload later

not my style at all....the saw synth before the break down could be abit less super mario, but then again, maybe you were going for that

its like a track youd find on the blade soundtrack...i can imagine blade jumping around the night club slicing up vampires already

also if youre making this kinda track, a break down that just has the bass repeating one note while being compressed by the kick and filtered like mad, with nothing else playing with it and the bass would be cool...its in a famous track i forget the name of, has a great piano riff in it. the music video is of a tv shopping ad parody

i listened to this on ****ty laptop speakers so i cant say much about the bass haha, id have to listen to it again

i should probablt say its good too haha, sorry, it is good, just not for me. i tend to cringe when i hear anything that reminds me of the 90's/ early 2000 dance music no matter how good

God, don't say it's good just for the sake of it :D
A person's taste is always gonna have a massive impact on what they think of a track. I'd be interested more in what you thought of the production values if you have no take on the style.
I was a bit dubious about the saw synth myself but in the end decided why the hell not :p

Some nice elements here. It's a tad repetitive for the first part until the break down at 2.14. I'd bring in the bass a little earlier. Nice groove on the percussion although the kick is a little thin sounding. You may have had to do this to stop the mix getting muddy though as there's a lot of low end going on with the other sounds. The vocal works in some parts but not in others. Basically when she's sing 'oooh' it sounds really cheesy. The 'I apologise' bit works well though. Overall mix sounds pretty good though, nice and punchy.

thanks, yeah it was a major problem, the mix just about works the way it is, any messing about and it gets muddy down below. i have a tendency to put everything into the lower frequencies and forget the higher. I know, it was a work in progress until i gave up and decided to post it the way it is now. it was meant to be longer but i ran out of ideas for it and i wasnt bothered putting too much time into it
