had a listen there, nice job!

at 3.22 it gets abit weird, stuttery/ laggy or something, as if theres a delay on the voice or something overlapping it too much, or just too much stuff going on...not sure exactly what it is, but you might want to take a look at it, otherwise class

I think i've fixed it. There might of been a bit to much compression going on in places. I've replaced the soundcloud link now, let me know what ya think

That sounds a lot better. More cohesive feel to the track now.

    New link

It's a tad polite. A track like that should have a bit of grit to it but all the elements are too clean. If you roughed it up and gave it a really heavy kick I think it would start to go places because all the elements are there. The snare fills are a bit dull as well.

New track here, from the album currently being worked on. Sort of one of those "build up" songs, as in, the majority of time is spent on the build up, rather than the main part, which is shorter by comparison.

A bit like travel itself. Hence the title.

Funny thing is, this track started off slightly different, there was another "main part", but I found I liked the build up more so I hived off the other part and ended up making a new track from it - which I will post in the next few days.

    http://soundcloud.com/geisha-1/outbound-travel-sequence

Its a nice ambient-y chilled track. BTW if anyone can think of a classification for this music, let me know! :-)

This album is nearly finished, and when it is I'll post the whole lot together.

This is really, really great except for one element, the bass sound. I loved the whole groove, whack a couple of vocal snippets and you've got a kind of DJ Sprinkles deep house vibe going on but that muffled bass I found a distraction -it almost sounds like what you hear when you're standing outside a club waiting to go in. The rest of the track is spot on though. Check out DJ Sprinkles, I reckon you'll dig that vibe.

There's no unreviewd track left before me so I'll just throw my new one in:

    Kinda mellow.

A bit of downtempo techno (ish) effort.
    https://soundcloud.com/subbed/stasis

Just noticed the volume ducking all over the place on the soundcloud version  Plays fine on my laptop, hi-fi, phone etc. Might try and upload the wav file tomorrow to see if it make a difference. People might let me know if they hear the same issue.

I like the drum sounds in this a lot. Especially the kick, has a great big sound off it. I would of maybe brought in some of the sounds like you have around the 2.30 mark earlier, but maybe different sounds (if that makes sense). I also would suggest try messing with the panning a bit more, I'm only grasping it myself but it can have a great effect on the track. Lastly sound weird sounds across it at time would of been cool... I'm thinking the kind of stuff you hear in Adam Beyer or Alan Fitzpatrick tracks.

Cool, thanks. I'm a big fan of Adam Beyer myself. I was also listening to Robert Hood's Fabric CD recently . It's amazing how so many of the tracks can sound so full and interesting even though they have maybe only 4 or 5 elements. It's all the quick short drops, filters and just sheer production skills. I hope to eventually be able to produce something that comes somewhat close. Lot of work to do though! Still that's all part of the fun.

    Hi guys,

This is my latest track. Started off going for a progressive house style and it just evolved in to a very 1980's style sound :D Any feedback is appreciated as always!

It certainly has that 80s vibe anyway :). The piano is an interesting addition and adds a certain seriousness to the track which I like. Nicely put together. Only thing is that the plucked guitar seems to drift out of time every now and then.

love the vocal. Real atmospheric. The main kick could do with a little variation on the pattern every now and then. Unfortunately the rap doesn't help at all. I'm not having a go at the performer, I just don't think any rapper would suit the track. Calls for a more traditional vocal I think. Apart from that I enjoyed it. Nice work.

Thank you for the kind words - ironically this is sort of what I was going for - something that sounded more "outside" and wobbly than a standard bass. Really, if I can get real instruments to sound 'unreal', that's the main goal! :)

It has a bit of Reese feel, it just felt like there was too much cutoff and so it didn't have any bite. The bassline itself was nice but it just came away feeling a bit indistinct imo. But like I said the rest of the track sounded great.

Lovely intro. I like the vinyl crackle and the bass pad fading in under the piano hit. Personally I'd have a slightly slower relase on the piano as they fade out pretty rapidly. The snare is a bit thin sounding and I wouldn't be a fan of the tom hit either. The panned hats are cool as well as the gentle splash. The arp is good as well and the vocal sample is nicely implemented. Good vibe overall.

Pretty original. I liked the old school sounds at the end and the wind chime. Although I think you should fade that out a bit earlier as it gets kind of distracting when the main bass line and kick begins. At 2.18 it all comes together but the kick gets a little lost. Might be an idea to layer it another kick to give it a little punch in order to stand out a bit more in the mix. I couldn't really hear the vocal either which is a pity cos it sounds interesting. Have you reversed it in places?

A remix I did for a Chymera competition. Due to a problem with soundcloud encoding and the original file they asked me to re-upload it but they never listened to it. Mind you compared to the ones shortlisted it's weak as green tea so it didn't really have a chance.

Nicely done. It's a bit too similar to the original and the clap is a bit loud but grand apart from that.

Something a bit more ambient today:

    http://soundcloud.com/geisha-1/according-to-the-map-were

This was "part two" of the previous track (Outbound Travel Sequence) but I thought it had enough of its own charm to just drift away as a new separate track. It doesn't do much other than the four chords, piano lines and the few swells, but I really like the sounds (which I created by feeding my keyboard through a few guitar effects pedals and then messing around with them a little).

Nice cosmic sounds here. I think when the LFO quickens up every now and then it sounds like someting from an early sci-fi series or something :). It cuts of very quickly at 3.17 which is a bit disconcerting. Overall I'd see it as an 'interlude' as opposed to a track in it's own right.

Yeah I guess its that... its almost like a "b" to the "a" of the previous track (its in the same key). I have a few things like that actually.

I went back and forward about that cut off but I thought it was best as I like the fact it suddenly dies, otherwise it'd have been a long fade out and the other elements would've had to take longer to come out... and that would've just made it a bit boring I guess.

Thanks for the feedback, once again! :)

I like the start a lot. From 1.11 - 1.30 reminded me of Fatboy Slim. That's a serious bassline there. I'm not convinced by the kick though. Just seems a bit soft. The layered hi-hat takes away from it I think. Nice vocal sample though.
I presume Soundcloud is reponsible for the volume jump when the bass plays on its own e.g. 2.59 - 3.07

I liked it, and the bass sound, but perhaps a bit more variation? With an 8 minute track you kind of have to do some more with it, and while the whole thing is good, either a 4 - 5 minute edit or some kind of change would be cool to hear.
